More Views at Saturday game (Bulls)
Saw my first five-inch stilettos yesterday on a gorgeous Las Vegas lady. She didn't t walk, just stood in the same spot for a long time.
The four Kings guards got beat every night this summer as a group tho' several had decent individual efforts.
No one out played DMC.
Whiteside is a project, a kid who needs a year in the D-League just to developo a game and add some strength. Those who criticize him don't understand how much upside he has but how much game he doesn't have, yet.
GP sees more in Sloan than we do watching him here.
No apparent guards on Kings squad who could backup Tyreke and Beno, so far (thru 4 games) or who could be the "shooter-scorers" needed from the perimeter.
More thoughts on Whiteside. Not very strong. Poor rebounding fundamentals. I'm worried about his confidence level if he's forced into action in the NBA too soon. I swear he was near tears in his second game. He has a lot of work to do. As an aside. JT looked visibly bigger, and very fit. I also saw Greene, Cousins, JT, and Whiteside all standing along side each other. I would say that Greene was just slightly the shortest of the group.
During Bulls game
Just before game time local resident Gary Payton showed up near Kings bench but mostly just signed autographs. No apparent dialog with any Kings.
In first quarter one of the most famous ex-Kings of all, Vlade Divac appeared and sat with spectator Grant Napear. Pete Youngman came by for a familiar hug from Vlad and they all chatted for awhile. All this down at corner section 8-9 rows up. Quite a few kids came by and got Vlade's autograph, easily. Vlade then made the rounds over by the Maloof's (Joe, Gavin and George) on the way to sitting down with the NBA TV crew for a few minutes of on-air interview.
Ex-King Randy Brown is assistant coach for Bulls on bench but not the primary summer league coach.
In the third quarter Rick Fox dropped by Vlade's seat and stayed awhile to chat. After the game on the way to our car, Vlade walked by and I said "Hi Vlade, how have you been? He said, " Fine ". I replied, "here to see then new kids on the block?" To which he said, "yeah and they look great." He extended his hand for a very solid and warm handshake and was gone into the setting sun to his car.
One row below us and one section to the left sat GP and a ways further on was Coach Westphal. They watched intently for the first half then were gone.
Cousins was both tired and frustrated in tonights game. welcome to the NBA big guy. Its obvious that 5 games in 6 nights were starting to show. Cousins looked to the bench several times for relief and Ellie just smiled and encouraged him to keep playing. Samuels played Cousins tough and the Bulls did a good job of doubling from the weak side along the baseline, causing him to shoot from further out than he wanted. He probably should have passed the ball. Its a learning experience.
Casspi was the hero tonight so big CONGRATS for his best game. On the Rice layup where he was fouled to make the game winning FT, did everyone notice thar Cousins had run the floor to snag the rebound and make a dunk that, if not for the foul, would have won the game? Thought so
