The professional beach volleyball players are having a tournament @ Cal Expo and it is very cool to see it live. I spent the whole day out there today and had a blast! They have set up about 8 sand courts and some of the best players in the world are playing there. Misty May and Kerri Walsh (who won the gold medal in the last Olympics) are playing a few times over the next couple of days.
I can't even express how impressive these athletes are, and the atmosphere is so relaxed that the players just walk around with the general public and talk to fans, sign autographs, etc. We saw all of the top players that they show on TV and sometimes you are only a few feet away from them while they play their matches. It's only $15 for general admission or $30 for court side seats and it is well worth it! Just be sure to bring your sunscreen and possibly an umbrella as there is hardly any shade.
