ASW: Arena negotiations Day 2 Meeting

The Maloofs, NBA and the city are set to meet at 12 pm PST. Some notes from the day thus far:

Speaking in the lobby of Disney's Waldorf Astoria, George Maloof talked to News10's Bryan May.

"We just got the deal four days ago," he said. "It's hard to put something together with a 4 day notice."

On Kings arena situation, source says Joe and Gavin Maloof are on board in doing what they need to do to make a deal happen. As for George?

George, George, George. Always in the business of terrible business decisions.

More on George:

Amick said:
It's no secret he's been against the team staying, and that dynamic remains relevant. Part of today is the city trying to convince him.

If it's 2 against 1, why is this even an issue? It's not like George has been some kind of business guru over the past decade.

Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson sounding very optimistic about chances of keeping the Kings, but admits emotion is not based on actual info.

Mayor KJ says a deal today as part of meetibgs with Stern, Maloofs and AEG "probably not as likely." But: "i'm rather excited."

MAYOR: Maloofs could have a lot of skepticism, they've been trying to get a new arena for ten years, they want to know what's different...

..my job is to help them understand all the things that are different. We didn't accidentally get here.

So sounds like George still has his nose bent out of joint, still being an uncooperative jerk, and the commissioner isn't very friendly with him, and Joe and Gavin are on the fence. Not sure how this is going to turn out. I hope it turns out well for us(and think it will) but I wouldn't be surprised to see something surprising.

@BMayNews10:behind these doors rest the future of the Sacramento Kings

No one is forcing him to stay, he can go :)

The Kings with the owners that want to stay, can stay here :D

The NBA has been negotiating on behalf of the Maloofs. One article I read said that if the Maloofs turned down what the NBA had negotiated that they would get a lot of pressure to sell. That makes sense to me.

So what happens if today's meetings fail, does that mean they will relocate?

STERN: We are continuing. Meetings to go on through our evening

Scott Howard-Cooper ‏ @SHowardCooper

Stern leaving for A-S game, but Sacto arena talks continue at the hotel. He expects they will still be going when he returns after the game.

Bryan May ‏ @BMayNews10

When asked if he felt good about meetings, Stern: "i feel good we're still talking"

Sam Amick ‏ @sam_amick

David Stern says Maloofs, City, NBA will continue negotiating throughout All-Star events an into the night. He had rooms booked for Maloofs.

Says it's good news and bad news that still meeting.

Ryan Lillis ‏ @Ryan_Lillis

Stern: "I didn't lock the doors, but it was tempting." Says the good news is that everyone is still talking #NBAKings

I wonder if George Maloof is going to be able to blow this all up. He's a friggin jerk IMO and if he gets his way I'll never forgive that family.
