Here is Another Article from Florida Today: Not Good

Christie not happy with playing time

There's trouble brewing once again in the Orlando Magic locker room, and this time it centers around the obvious unhappiness of guard Doug Christie. He played just 6 minutes Wednesday night against his former team, and never left the bench in the second half. Christie was so upset after the game that he left the locker room before the media was allowed inside, and he didn't even venture over to the opposite side of TD Waterhouse Centre to see his former Kings' teammates.

Christie skipped Orlando's practice on Thursday, claiming he was "sick." But clearly he's still sick over getting traded out of Sacramento and getting demoted out of the Magic starting lineup. Replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Jameer Nelson, Christie has played just five, 12 and six minutes the past three games. He has hinted at being frustrated recently, but told the Sacramento Bee on Wednesday night that he feels lost with the Magic.

"I didn't really know what to expect when I got here, but I didn't expect this," Christie said. "I don't even know what to say. Disappointed is an understatement."

Magic coach Johnny Davis, who had to deal with Steve Francis' unexcused absence from practice last week, was willing to give Christie the benefit of the doubt Thursday. He said he realizes that Christie is struggling with the transition to a new team, but he needs the veteran guard to snap out of his funk and make a contribution. Christie is shooting just 36.7 percent from the floor since the trade, and his defense has been lacking.

"Like in life, there are job transfers, and you have to adjust," Davis said. "Doug is still very important to us. His experience, know-how and professionalism will be a plus for us as the season progresses."

Doug called in "sick" for Thursday's practice?? Must be tough for him. But just hang in there, Doug. Your team needs you and support your team even though they may not be the same Kings team you were once on. Just keep supporting them even if you get no playing time.

I totally agree with what 4cwebb said:

I know it must be tough for DC as a player to go from 35 minutes per game to almost zero, but the reality is that he was in a unique position in Sacramento, playing without almost any consistent scoring ability largely because the other 4 players had more than enough.

I think CWebb is going through the same thing in Philly -- playing in a different system than Sacramento's is difficult once you've grown accustomed to it, and there will be struggles for those forced to adjust to new systems.

Just hope that DC can keep his head up through these tough times. Orlando is fighting for a playoff spot.

"These aren't the Kings of early-to-midseason 2004-05, the team dominated offensively by Chris Webber, and definitely not the Vlade Divac-led squad that challenged for the league's best record until late last year, succeeding because of intuitive selflessness, exceptional passing, and marvelous, if inexplicable, chemistry."

This is getting rediculous, even when she writes a really great article about something miles and miles away from Chris Webber she finds a way to attck him. How does she have a job still? What happened to Kriedler? It seems he writes less and less for the Bee and more and more for ESPN.

On the article, great article, and I can't say how much I miss Doug. It would be neat to see him get involved with the organization when he retires as a coach or scout or something.
