arena question

#1
I hope somebody can give me some help on this question that came to mind yesterday. Is there a list of cities that have lost a major professional fanchise because the community was unable to provide a new state-of-the-art arena for the team? Thanks in advance for any help.

There's a thread about that around here somewhere I think...

Most of the teams mentioned were, I believe, NOT NBA teams but NFL franchises. Hopefully someone else will remember where it was discussed. I'll try searching the back threads for you.

Thanks for the help. I will look as well. I am interested because I think we all fear that the Kings will move without a new arena. It just made me wonder how much of a historical precidence there is for a move under such a situation. I mean, I know teams relocate, but how many times has it been because of the reason that we are facing.

I think most times there are many unlying causes for a franchise to move. A successful franchise, like the Kings, doesn't just pull up stakes and leave IMHO. I think the Maloofs are finally doing some of the right things by bringing in experts to try and come up with a plan that will be palatable all the way around...

The mere fact it's now being done in private is a step forward.

If you check the thread about Houston and San Antonio, you might get a little more insight...

I haven't found the thread I know is here somewhere yet...
