Are the Kings entering a rebuild phase?

Will The Kings actually commit to a rebuild for once?

So listening to that podcast, a couple of things seem pretty clear:
1- Scott probably intentionally tanked the team this year.
2- Scott not sure where the 3-5 year timeline talk came from but is preaching patience.
3- “this season is about establishing an organizational foundation”
4- Scott definitely thinks that the beam team was a flash in the pan/wasn’t a sustainable winner
5- “ownership and I are completely aligned”

Watching this at the moment. Should be an interesting watch.

IQ and common sense ain't hard. The IQ part relays itself back to history. Wherever you are, or where you'll be has likely a pretty close example historically. Learn from those lessons and comp players based on similarity, etc. You prioritize assets that might yield something, not seeing a lot of that right now.

4. Gee, ya think? lol.

Scott is really really high on Max (rightfully so)

Sounds like Scott is trying to got he OKC rebuild route. Build through the draft

Feels like Keon Ellis and Russ might be dangled to a second apron contender if there’s a good chunk of draft capital offered since their contract hits are so small and thus acquirable with minimal salary hoops to go through

I mean there were people here who were convinced we were a simple John Collins trade from being a contender so it’s nice confirmation that our GM didn’t think the Kings were just one forward-sized guy away from the ship
Collins was one of the few true 4's who could fit well with Sabonis, as well as Fox and Murray. Not sure that anybody thought that would make them a real contender, but definitely would have had more potential to get past the first round. A lineup of Fox, Ellis (Monk), Murray, Collins, Sabonis was always a better fit than adding DeRozan

What is it you want to see him do?

we will see if scenario number 5 is true as year 3 or 4 approaches

Start prioritizing more focus to players NOT named Russell Westbrook whether that's for trade value or future building. This deadline, cut salary even if the deal isn't appetizing or he's losing out on "value". He needs to start to soften his cap as much as possible without giving up any assets. If it doesn't happen then too bad, keep building towards the future and IMO that includes Devin Carter. The more time guys like DeMar and Westbrook gobble up the offense the less time they are actually doing something useful like gathering intel on what they'll be left with. Before the season it felt like this was going to be 08-09 all over but this has actually been even more useless believe it or not. They are riding the middle and not prioritizing showcasing or youth building. Pushing Monk out and continuing to let Westbrook gobble gobble makes ZERO sense, especially if they are trying to trade Monk. We know what sitting in the middle of the road looks like and most of this season has been that. We'll see what he does at the deadline because we'll know if we're screwed again, lol.

Thankfully, completely unintentionally, we are pretty likely to end up with a top 5 pick this year, despite our best efforts. Same with the Maxime development; had Domas and Eubanks not gotten hurt, we'd never would have seen him this season. Maybe ever!

It still feels like a pick 6-8 year to me but hopefully the Kings get some luck. Better be in that top 4. If not, it might be a little more work for Perry.

I hear you, and I get the frustration. I want to see what DC can do, I want to see what Keon looks like with a consistent role, and what the defense looks like with Keon, Keegan and DC in at once. I feel like the FO does too, but I think it’s tough with these aprons and that limits the trade market, and then if they bench these guys it could damage their relationship with these agents. But we’re all just speculating as to what the reason is. I can’t imagine the plan is to play Westbrook and DDR 40 mins a game while we finish at the bottom of the league.
