Are the Kings entering a rebuild phase?

Will The Kings actually commit to a rebuild for once?

CD = BS There is no source for his opinion or reporting or whatever the heck it is. He's a slippery one.

I've said for a while now that when the pain from cascading losses gets high enough that the Kings' organization will break from their current path to nowhere. However, we have seen no evidence whatsoever that that is the case. We have to see major trades for picks and young players, as well Kings' youngins being played with substantial minutes with some semblance of a developmental plan before we can begin to believe in a major course shift. I would also expect that the actions would be accompanied by a rhetorical change from Perry - "We are embarking on a new path", etc., etc.

Well if Dave is just trying to force the issue by putting the idea out there and seeing how much support it gets with the fanbase then kudos to him for using his platform to do something about this train wreck! We're already starting to get hypothetical Sabonis trade deals on social media. Then it will become a talking point on the NBA blogs, podcasts, and talking heads shows. Maybe some other teams see the smoke and call up Scott Perry to see if this is legit and suddenly we've got a potential pathway out of this misery...

So Kudos to @carmichaeldave and keep it coming I say!

Is that what CD is doing though? His slippery language leaves it open to the various interpretations. Why not just be straightforward rather BS his way to a click-bait story?

There is truth to that, in order for a sell off and rebuild to begin you absolutely have to have the paying fans on board. Dave has power on that front, and when I said "he's really just a fan with a loud voice" that cuts both ways. I think the paying fans are most likely to listen to a voice like Dave than an ESPN radio guy who may only have an interest in the Kings because it pays the bills. I think Deuce and Mo are maybe the only other local media pairing that have that much respect from the common fan (and Gary Gerould but he's special).

I like Deuce and Mo. Both are straightforward in speech, knowledgeable, and seem to be arduous Kings' fans. Lately, I've been watching Kings' games more to see what they have to say than the games themselves.

Speaking of "talking heads," Allen Stiles is cracking me up on the radio right now. He wants to Kings' to sit the vets and play the youngins tonight so if they get blown out he doesn't have to hear the fury of the fans.😄 Poor guy. What happens if the Kings lose the next three or four games? It's probably time to hide under the desk, or talk about the 9rs or the Giants and make believe the Kings don't exist.

They can be a little obnoxious at times but I like them too. They are passionate and knowledgeable and even though probably everyone that enters the game has some desire to be front and center, they really do come off as fans first unlike most of the other media that covers the team.

Unlike some others, I find them to be authentic.

The thing is that despite how bad the Kings have been, it feels like it’s going to be nearly impossible to catch the Nets and Pacers this season in a tank race.

That doesn't matter all that much. Being in the 4-8 range is often just as good because of the lottery and picking 4-8 might end up being just as good as 1-3 this year anyway, depending on who is up there at the top and what they're looking for. I know the top 3 prospects are being hyped like they're a tier above the rest but Caleb Wilson is the guy who has impressed me the most so far and I'm also high on Jayden Quaintance and Dash Daniels.

Mike Brown jr will make it a big four and if Wilson flashes a jumpshot it’ll be five

Yeah, it's unlikely the Kings will be able to out-suck Brooklyn, Washington, and Indiana this season. But they could very well out-suck the likes of Charlotte, Boston, Memphis, and Dallas, which means they'd probably still finish with a bottom-5 record. And that's a good spot to be in heading into a draft that might have 3-5 franchise-level guys on the board in the early going.

OKC's blueprint is not the same as the others, and really San Antonio's is just win the lottery 3 years in a row.

Detroit and Portland are fairly valid comparisons to what we might be able to do. As would be Houston, and possibly the Philly process, and those are what the expectations when it's over might be.

Are we doing it? I'm not convinced. And really CD hasn't exactly had the pulse of this team for a few years now.
There is a solid reason why Carmichael Dave hasn’t had the pulse of the team in a while

If we held onto Fox it would reset the timer for Vivek eventually seeing the need to blow it up. Like, let's say that Vivek is 100% solely responsible for Zach and is now being trashed nightly for it. The fans are not coming and those that do are mocking him in the arena. Every decision is second guessed.

That is only happening now because of the Fox trade.
This team lost by 30 in back to back games or whatever it was right when Fox pretty much demanded a trade after our 7 game win streak. Keeping Fox in that lockeroom was about to be a mess, not so different from what we’re experiencing now IMO.

Not sure what the move should’ve been but Fox tanked this thing the moment he threw that game against Detroit in our building, if you ask me. It’s almost like he knew they’d fire Mike Brown not long after that. It’s not all his fault of course. We’ve had many missteps over the years

Interesting that Indiana is so awful this season even with Siakim out there. Maybe a bunch of injuries do play a factor like they are with us. Not saying Sacramento would be a great team or anything but this season has been a doozy

8 minutes left is insane lol i say we go for the record and get beat down by 70-80 points so few people survive the night. Somebody gotta go

Ok, there's no way this team stands pat, right?

There are two projected strong drafts coming up and we are clearly terrible, so a rebuild seems like a no brainier. I'd rather watch a youth movement in the pursuit of a high lotto pick as opposed to bunch of vets goofing around and getting blown out. It would be intriguing to see how Clifford and Keegan develop without having to defer.

But if Vivek decides to Vivek and mortgages the future for AD and/or Ja that would make dipping out of Kings fandom very easy.

I just have no clue which way we're going to go.

need to get as much return on Sabonis as possible for the rebuild to begin. Perry already was testing the trade market for DeRozan and Monk, no one wants Lavine with that contract right now so you just have to keep engaging these fringe play-in teams or play-in teams and convince them that they need a vet from the roster to help them

Carter
Ellis
Nique
Keegan
Raynaud (even though not ready)

Would be a fun future to think about, knowing that there are two cracks at top 5 picks within the next two years. It ain't gonna happen, but there are some young guys that aren't just filler on this team. With some clever competent trading and drafting, the rebuild towards competitiveness doesn't have to be as long and arduous as it seems.

The Thunder have the Jazz’s pick this season because of a Derrick Favors salary dump from like a whole decade ago and the Clippers will finally be free of the PG-SGA trade after this season lol

Kings don’t have the cap space to pull off that maneuver exactly but they do have Saric’s expiring to help teams get off bad medium level deals.

I'm sure no matter what happens, Vivek will force them to acquire enough "win now" players to make another run at it next year.
