From what I hear and read though, the atmosphere is unrivaled, I guess we can't have both. Bigger does not always mean better in this case.

If they design it right, we can. I think they are looking toward a Conseco Fieldhouse type venue. I would think keeping the 'atmosphere' would have to be a top priority, at least if they do it right.

If I remember correctly, hasn't Gund Arena been called a more modern Arco?

The atmosphere is critical and it's something I'm positive will be a major consideration since everyone who has ever been in Arco when the joint is rocking, including fans, players, coaches, opposing owners, and even David Stern has made a big point of how impressive the whole experience was because of said atmosphere. I think the designers will do everything possible to retain as much of the "ambiance" of Arco as possible.
