One thing about old box scores - they serve as good reminders of hustle or lack thereof.

Kings coaches were sure to remind their interior players Tuesday night that Dwight Howard pounded them for 20 points and 16 rebounds en route to a three-point Orlando Magic victory on March 2. The most galling statistic was eight offensive rebounds by the No. 1 pick, out of high school, in the 2004 draft.

OAS_AD('Button20'); This time, the NBA Rookie of the Year candidate was kept well out of harm's way, and the Magic stumbled to its fifth successive loss. Howard finished with four points and five rebounds in 30 minutes.

Youth was upstaged by experience, strength and motivation with Darius Songaila and Kenny Thomas taking their turns on the 6-foot-11 power forward. The Kings forwards combined for 24 points and 15 rebounds.

"They didn't let him get to the boards," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "They did a nice job keeping a body on him."

Said Kings guard Cuttino Mobley: "Huge. (Thomas and Songaila) complement each other. One comes out, one goes in, and you're not missing anything."

And Thomas: "We continue to do that - not allow guys to get offensive rebounds - and no one will beat us."

Augmon benched

Magic forward Stacey Augmon was suspended for Tuesday's game for using profanity and hurling baby lotion at a Florida Today reporter after Sunday's 98-82 setback to the New Jersey Nets. Augmon hasn't talked to the media this season."What he did wasn't the right thing to do," Magic coach Johnny Davis said. "It should never happen again. It hurts us from a defensive standpoint. He's probably our best individual defender."

Et cetera

The Kings had three blocked shots, all by Brian Skinner, giving him 24 in 10 games with the team.

• Maurice Evans came up with four steals and six points in 14 minutes for the Kings.

• Hedo Turkoglu had a mixed return to Arco Arena with 14 points and six turnovers.

• Orlando guard DeShawn Stevenson was fined $7,500 for kicking the ball into the stands after the New Jersey game.

King for a day

KENNY THOMAS
The Kings forward came off the bench to score 16 points with 11 rebounds and a season-high seven assists, and he defended Dwight Howard well.

Sound bite

"Unbelievable. The threes he hit won the game."

- Kings coach Rick Adelman on guard Mike Bibby, whose three fourth-quarter shots broke the game open

Question posed

IS PEJA STOJAKOVIC READY TO PIECE TOGETHER AN OFFENSIVE STRING NOW?
The Kings sure hope so. They sorely need the former All-Star to provide some offensive balance for Mike Bibby. With the loss of Brad Miller, the more veteran scoring, the better. Stojakovic, still trying to kick off the dust, looked more relaxed, more involved and more like the Peja of old with 27 points, although he still needs to rebound with a lot more zest. He has collected only five boards in the last three games. Also, he had just one assist in 40 minutes Tuesday night.

Big number

25 - Turnobvers for the Magic, a season high and a Kings opponent season high.

I liked K9 and Neptunes job on D12...as the Orlando announcers mentioned "Dwight can't even sniff of an offensive rebound"

and Mo off the bench with FOUR steals...had no idea about that one...GO MO!!

woohoo!
GO KINGS!!
