Yep.. Started to build the stadium but quickly ran out of money. thats now the land owned by the City.

Yeah, they even have a tunnel built under ARCO so thy could easily move things back and fourth if they did build a baseball stadium.

I can't believe it looks so isolated around the arena. If you look at Phillips, there's nothing but buildings and high rises around it. This may be a stupid question but there's plenty of room, why don't they just level it and build a new arena right there?

WHERE WOULD THEY PLAY FOR THE TIME BEING?? ARENAS ARE NOT BUILT OVER NIGHT REMEMBER... IT WOULD EASILY OVERLAP THE SEASAON THUS THE KINGS END UP PLAYING NO WHERE 'CEPT MAYBE SOME COLLOGE OR SOME NONSENSE

Takes atleast 12-18 months to build an arena depending on size.


And Isolated? You shouldve seen the area when the arena was built in 87.

I know..everything's so crowded around Philips. I hate whenever there's a concert going on that I don't know about and I'm driving around downtown. Crazy traffic.

That's why there's Marta. I don't dare drive towards Atlanta if I don't need to.

It's not easy to find conidering how the area has changed. I get mixed up everytime I try to show somebody where it is. It is a office building now. It was almost fully built before they gutted it and made it into an Arena. Then after ARCO 2 was built they turned it back into office space.

I usually take MARTA too. i just hate it when i am actually driving and it takes me by surprise whenever something's going on.
