Any get-together for Monarchs' fans?

What is the latest? The game tomorrow is on CSN, but is there a party at any Sports Bar in the Sacto area? I have a friend who does not get CSN on their DishNetwork package and wants to know if the Monarchs set anything up since Joey B's has closed.

I will call my friend and let them know about tomorrow.

NBH, I hope to hear from MS&E about Thurs. If not, we'll plan something for then.

Since NothinButHoops already first mentioned it two weeks ago, I'll be the first to nominate a place:

OSHIMA SUSHI

It's close to Arco, so it's not like you have to learn a different path to get there!

Here's their website:
http://www.oshimasushi.com/

If it is not agreeable, how about:

Hangar 17
Cheers (along El Camino near Truxel)
Faces
Club 21
Sports Corner (in Old Sacramento)
...or even Vlade Divac's Tunel 21 in Old Sacramento?

Eh...Tunel 21? The dress code is longer than their menu.

Players out in Citrus Heights has been supportive and its got available parking.

I'm trying to find a place in Indy to watch the game, ::fingers crossed:: if my plane arrives on schedule, I'm going to hustle over to Conseco to see the Fever and Sky play, then hustle back to the hotel to try to find a place w/NBAtv for the Ms game which should follow the conclusion of the Fever game.

Which reminds me...is there anybody w/Text Msg capabilities willing to text me the scores of game 1 at the end of each quarter? PM me and I'll leave you my number...and be eternally grateful :)

We live all over the place, so everyone will not be happy no matter where we choose.

I am not a sushi lover unless they have soy wrap. I hate seaweed. It is very far out if you don't live in Natomas. Players is difficult on a weeknight because it is a pain to go out Hwy 50 after work, although the food is varied and good. I would like Players for a weekend game, though. Old Sac is a pain for parking and is a bit expensive.

Is there a decent place that is more central for everyone? Decent parking would be a plus. I would really rather it was a sports bar.

Lets hope the Maloofs put something together for us.
I'll e-mail my ticket rep. & see if anythings brewing?
I'm not sure about Oshima on a large scale, maybe for a small group.
They have great food, not just sushi.
Sorry MBF no text messages...feel free to call on the cell!

I received the following reply to my email about a viewing party for Round 1, Game 1.

"There is not a viewing party planned for Round One, but if (or should I say, WHEN) the Monarchs advance, there are plans in the works for later rounds!"

greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat....nice to know they're thinking about the fans right now. Don't mean to get grumpy here but unless there's a concert or something going on Thurs night, you mean to tell me they can't get something together for this first round game? Especially since they didn't feel they needed to replace the viewing party they seemed to have already planned (as much as these things really need to be planned - they don't cater them) for the Phx game before Joey B's closed. (The curse continues I guess LOL).

But needless to say I'm disappointed with that response, especially since that's a NBAtv game. Let's get through THIS damn round before we start putting stuff in the works for games that nobody's selling tickets to yet.

Well, let's all check around and see who will show the game for us. If worse comes to worse, I get NBATV at my house. You would all have to bring your own food and drink though. :p

Sports Bar in Elk Grove Area

Well, I am dissapointed that there will not be an Arco viewing party, but there are other places. I am in Elk Grove. We have gone to Mandango's (on Laguna Blvd near 99) and watched games before. They are very nice and make sure we have at least one screen. The place is unspectacular, but who cares? It has food and drink and the game with lots of room. Last time there were quite a few fans watching--even the family that sits next to us at games.

I remember during the 2004 Western Conference finals (SAC vs. Seattle), there was several of us (including 6th) at the now-defunct Family Sports Bar & Grill in Elk Grove. The place went through an ownership change last year and renamed it to the Elk Grove Live at Family Sports Grill.

I have never been to the Mandango's in Elk Grove. I've been to the Mandango's on Fulton Avenue, however.

There's also that one on Fair Oaks Blvd near Sunrise we went to once this year, and there was another game on and we were allowed one screen but theirs was up full blast and we were losing and we all left. Food was OK, as long as there are no other games on...Your place sounds good, Sixth. Maybe we can stomp the lights out again!!!

:p My place is fine, but I am up for trying Mandango's with lshakespeare if enough people are interested. It would be nice to go south for a change. Especially, since I live in South Sac.

lshakespeare, what is the actual address. And, can I get there by taking Power Inn south (or even Stockton Blve) so that I would not have to get on that horrible 99 South after work?

I was not there. I was in Illinois that year. I've never been to a Sports Bar in Elk Grove. :D

You weren't? I'm sorry, I guess I must've mistaken you for someone else at the time.

Still, considering that the Storm eliminated the Monarchs that night in '04 (which turned out to be Ruthie's last game), perhaps it's just as well. [sigh]

It seems like we were at quite a few different locations last year during the playoff run. Are any of those places still options?

During the LA series MS&E actually did a great job and opened up Arco for us (for the FIRST round even!)... but I guess that's not an option this time.

I wasn't able to make the viewing party for the Houston series because I clearly remember racing home to turn on the tv and missing the start of the game. Was that the Hangar 17 get together?

During the Finals we were at Players on Sunrise Blvd for Game 1. I remember it being on a couple of TVs and one of the big screens. For Game 2 we were at The Library. The game was on the big screen and I think a couple small tvs too. I just remember the bad glare from that place that made it hard to see the screen. But they had good pizza!

I was not terribly impressed with The Library's food or ambiance. I love Players, but no way I am fighting Hwy 50 or Sunrise traffic on a weeknight to drive all the way out there. Hangar 17 was okay, but a bit expensive, AFAIC.

I don't mind driving down to Mangango's in Elk Grove just to try it out, but if all my regular friends won't join me there, then I can always watch it at home. It is much cheaper for me.

p.s. Yes, I know I am being cantankerous.

Here's Mandango's website, then click on "Driving Directions". Unfortunately, the Elk Grove Mandango's doesn't have a map link or the directions itself, but at least there's the address.

Players is hands-down my favorite place, but Sunrise traffic is insane on weekdays. Well, coming from 50 anyways. I never come in from 50 so...the traffic going there isn't a problem for me (thankfully).

I'm most likely out if Elk Grove is the spot. Both of my bosses are flying around the country this week, essentially leaving me to hold down the fort while they are gone. So I doubt I could make it there from Roseville by game time. But that's ok, I'm supposed to be getting the DirecTV hook-up sometime on Thursday (fingers crossed). And if the guy doesn't have us set up by then (I'll be mad) I can just kidnap my roommate and head up to Players. And if I'm stuck at work really late, there's a Mandangos a couple blocks away :D

Man MamaB, your bosses need to coordinate their trips better to accomodate crucial business you need to tend to as a Ms fan. Be sure lil man is aware that he needs to keep his win streak alive too...;)

Btw...Monarchs Playoffs 2006..."We Run This"

Well if you all decide on a place...I'll try & meet you after work. I may have to work some OT...which sucks. I'll be coming in from Wooland. So If it's too late I may venture over to mom's for some home cookin & NBATV. Sad cable company I have doesn't have NBATV. So if we hit & miss...for sure we'll be at ARCO on Sat!
Go Monarchs!!!

Seriously. The bosses need to tell our clients that there will be no testifying while the Monarchs are in the playoffs!! Or at the very least, the clients need to coordinate court dates so that they aren't BOTH gone at the same time!

The Lil Man just might have to watch Game 1 with me if I end up at my place. I don't quite have his fake ID ready for the bars yet ;)

Speaking of "We Run This"... I have it playing on iTunes right now for mojo purposes. (And because it's 7:30 and no one else is in the office)

Sing to us a bit MamaB...We need to get this party started!
Your still at work? Hope you'll be able to make the games at Arco.
You gonna bring that little guy with you on SAT.? We need all the fans we can get, especially if he's a lucky charm!

We run this (run this)
We run this (run this)
We run this (run this)
Oh, oh, oh,
It don’t matter where you from it’s where you at
& if you came to freak-a-leak you better bring your hat
East coast, west coast, down south
Represent your coast
Yea we run it
Yea we run it
Yall don’t want it
Cause my coast run it
Oh
We run this s***
We run this s***

That's the important part of the song... the rest doesn't really apply ;)

I'm not sure about bringin' the lil guy to the game on Saturday, it'll be LOUD! The playoffs are a whole new level of volume... but on the other hand... he has a perfect record so far. What to do. What to do.

I have decided to head home after work instead of rushing and fighting traffic for the early game. If anyone wants to join me, you are welcome. I live near Mack and Hwy 99 (actually Power Inn). PM me for directions.
