[Rumor] Amick: Scott Perry is “Thinking big”

Unless you’re getting a top five pick this is malpractice

Even so, outside of the top 2 I don't see anyone guaranteed to be much better. This is a tough draft. If Perry or his people see some star worth going all in for that isn't in the top 2 then questions about their talent evaluation skills are going to come up. At that point he's making change just to make change.

Packaging Carter in some kind of deal for a larger haul could make some sense (depending on the haul, of course), but shipping him out just to get into the first round so you can make a pick this year and put your stamp on the team would be a huge misfire from Perry right out the gate. There's hardly a guarantee that you end up with a player as good as Carter is right now, given the defensive upside he's flashed already.

So we don't need a PG then? If this is the evaluation on Carter.

If Perry *could* get a Lotto pick for Carter, I wouldn't be surprised to see him pull the trigger. He's not his draft pick. I'm extremely high on Carter of course and think all this "we need a PG" talk is extremely overblown, but again, this is what we have to be prepared for with a whole new regime. They have no ties to the old players

This is stupid though too why does it matter if Carter wasn’t your pick just laziness from perry if true we’ll be looking for a new GM in a couple years

I think Carter isn’t a natural PG but he’s big enough to be the combo guard with another pg or combo guard like Nembhard/Hali

Yeah, if true this is going right into the toilet. You don't trade both, you trade one to create space for the other. KANGZ.

We’re cooked

I would do Carter for Bailey simply cause Bailey has more stat potential and could fall other then that don’t trade the kid

One thing, this is like with Domas, there is a difference between "gauging interest" and shopping. My gut feeling? The Heat are trying to chump out Perry and get a perfect player for them in Carter as an add in because he's the exact type of player they go for. Perry? If the Heat are doing that? Trust their instincts on that one. Don't get too caught up in your own ego here. Perhaps, just perhaps there is a reason teams have been trying to steal another Kings lotto guard? Ya think?

Hey, everyone wanted Monte fired. These are the potential consequences.

BUT, so far no moves to be mad at yet. So far just the Christie HC hiring, which outside of not conducting a real HC search, I think is mostly fine/good after what he showed last year.

It would obviously take a lot more than Carter to get there. I'm not sold on Bailey knowing what it would likely take and him not working out for anyone seems iffy. He plays like a faceup stretch 4 and does have some off the dribble ability but is he Jabari Smith Jr. lite?

Yeah, we'll know in a matter of days possibly what kind of hell Kings fans are headed towards haha. I still see it as 3-5-7 year options. Thrown it all down to go all in and 7 years I'd almost put money on. 3 years to bang the same drum then 4 to restock. The Suns method.

Gauging interest on both doesn't neccisarily mean they are looking to move both. Seeing what deals are out there for both and moving on the better deal is one example.
Yeah, and on that same note, "thinking big" doesn't necessarily mean that Perry is actually going to go big just for the sake of being able to tell everyone, "Hey, look, I went big in Sacramento". I think people, generally speaking, saw that rumor and instantly went into panic mode thinking he's about to actually do something stupid. I'd be very surprised to see such a move (i.e. a move being made just for the sake of making a move).

If the goal is to get a PG and get bigger, it would seem like one of LaVine or Monk has to be moved to fill those needs and clear the logjam at SG.

The 2 logical trade pieces are Monk and DDR. LaVine/Domas are the foundational offensive pieces that require a much bigger trade to get done salary wise. Monk/DDR are flexible enough for a lot of different deals.

It might not be relevant to your high level point but not everyone wanted him fired. We had a poll before he was gone and >75% thought he should stay.

Didn't we start our offseason with a bunch of 'Kings discussing Deebo, Sabonis trade' tweets before we got a 'Kings haven't discussed Deebo, Sabonis trade'. And last off season, we were like 'they better not move Keegan for Lauri, they better appreciate what we do have'.

Imagine now that I've said this Carter will pack his bags but don't need to get too anxious about some dumb tweets just yet.
