Lee DeWyze... I don't have any questions. His renditions tonight really showed what American Idol is supposed to be about. Someone who had never even sung in front of an audience before this competition just rocked the house. His performance of "Hallelujah" - one of my all-time favorite songs - gave me goosebumps.

GO LEE!!!!

And I'm signing off now so I can vote for him some more. He saved this season IMHO.

Can't stand him, but he may indeed be the best of the 3. I think I like Crystal but honestly none of them have "it" imho.

Do you get royalties on the original thread or something :) I know its still there, but it was the deadest Idol thread either.

I was watching as I replied last night, now I strongly disagree on Lee after watching it myself. I think the only thing glorious about the performance was the song itself. Jason Castro did it better imho and that guy was pretty much a middle of the road guy 2 or 3 years ago. This season he'd probably runaway with this thing.

I gotta go with Lee. I thought he was amazing last night. Course, I tend to like those voices with some rasp in them. I always liked his voice, but it wasn't until he started to break out of his "shyness" or lack of confidence, that I began to think he might make it this far.

I think Crystal is great, but the song she chose for herself last night did her no favors. Maybe it was the arrangement that was bad, like a couple of the judges said. I happen to really like that song and it was the worst version of it I think I've ever heard. Almost unrecognizable.

Yes

No need to have an attitude about it...I said I was just curious. And to be honest, it wasn't that hard to find. its on page 2.
I didn't have an attitude. You asked a question and I answered. I'm very glad you found it. If it bothers you that much, perhaps you'll ask a moderator to merge the two.

I merely wanted to make a positive comment about last night's show. I don't see why it has to become anything else... As I said, you're the one who decided to bring up the other stuff. I just made a simple comment. If you'd like to continue to discuss my lack of ability to find a simple thread, perhaps we could do it via PMs and spare the rest of the board?

I have to agree. I like Crystal but she's phoned it in a couple of weeks and she's bristled about comments more times than I can count. It's almost as though she knows she's got a lucrative career in front of her and just wants this part over with. Lee, on the other hand, is truly grateful for everything that's happened to him.

I think what struck me most last night about Lee was how far he's come since the beginning. We'll have to agree to disagree about how he did the song. All I know is that it gave me goosebumps and I could feel just how much it meant to him...and that counts in the VF21 Book of How to Pick an American Idol. ;)

My bad for reading that you had an attitude. I never mentioned your lack of ability to find a simple thread. Again, like I mentioned....I was just curious.

Anyways, I think Crystal and Lee will be in the finale with Crystal being the next American Idol.

It seemed to me he was tagged the favorite once they got to the audience voting part, so pretty much from the beginning so I can't say I see any growth, but there wasn't much for any of these contestants except maybe the ones that shouldn't have even been there in the first place and have been graded on a curve (Aaron and Tim spring to mind).

I think Rock's pick for the final 2 is right but I have a feeling Lee wins then goes on to a less than amazing career (somewhere between Kris and Taylor in my estimation). I'm not sure people connect with Crystal and if this had been an earlier season she would surely have been the "shocking boot" mid-season.

With X-Factor headed to our shores next season I honestly believe American Idol as we know it is dead. It may have one more season of attracting "top" talent and a season or two after that, but X-Factor with its wider talent pool and Simon's star power will run Idol into the ground.

Hmmm...I'm not sure I agree if Lee will win. Sure, he has come along ways and has improved each week, but I'm still not sold. However, as I am typing this, it does seem that people connect more with Lee. With that tho, I still think Crystal will win. After all, this is the year a woman wins Idol. :p

I'm not sure what it is about Idol demographics that has changed over the last few years but it seems almost impossible for a woman to win now. I do think she is the better talent by a wide margin but besides whatever it is that favors the guys lately she also has that big back tattoo and for some reason girls with tattoos always get the shaft on the show (of course its cool for the dudes). The hair doesn't really help either. I don't find her unattractive but conventionally pretty she is not and unfortunately I think that is a requirement.

Out of the final 12 I'd agree, but I think 3 of the final 4 cuts had top 5 potential for this group and were better than Lee at that stage of the game (imho of course).
