American Idol - the New Season

Down to 5

Didn't surprise me that Constantine didn't get the votes ... I agreed with Simon - he'd make a better living NOT SINGING ROCK ... what did surprise me was Vonzell in the bottom 3.

I know some of you don't particularly care for Vonzell, but the girl can sing. She's got range, presence and personality. I actually had Carrie ranked higher then Vonzell, but that has changed with each week. If you're not familiar with Chaka Khan .... go get some ... her music is strong and powerful. Vonzell does that style of music very well.

Remember last year when the category was Gloria Estefan ... and NOBODY could perform her music with any level of confidence or comfort. I believe Vonzell wouldn't have any problems with The Miami Sound Machine. Good music !!!

Scott or Anthony are next (they gotta be) .... Bo has to got to be careful on his music selection if he intends on going any further.

If Scott doesn't get voted off next week, I may be reduced to removing my ear drums with chopsticks...

I am honestly beginning to wonder if the voting is rigged. My interest in the show is now almost nil, as I really don't care if any of the remaining people actually get the title. If I had to choose, it would be Carrie and she's more country than anything else.

I was more impressed with the final three on "Nashville Star" than I am with ANY of the remaining possible "Idols." I may just skip the show and wait for the results to post on the website afterwards...

I have a feeling that when Simon said Scott was gonna go home all Scott's fans decided they had to "save him" and called in more than they would have otherwise. I don't know how else he could still be in this competition. He just doesn't have a great voice. And Vonzell was in the bottom three??? How is that possible? She was the only one that I thought had done well at all this week. What is America thinking???

I think people have been thinking that for weeks... Watch - Anthony is gonna end up winning the whole thing
You really have to wonder about people that are keeping the bad singers in competition.

Ya Know ..

Scott and Anthony aren't that bad ... but, take a backseat when compared to the others.

My prayers were answered and Constantine is gone...now I need Anthony to go...followed by Scott...and then I could really care less who wins. I wanted Anwar to pull it off, and my streak of correct predictions ended at 3- I had predicted who would win it all every year before this year.

That's Hard To Do ...

With the way contestants advance into the next round .... it's almost next to impossible to predict who's going to win.

When it comes to technology, there's ALWAYS a way to "beat the system". I missed the latest news-flash on the "voting scam" of people being able to rapidly vote with having to dial and hang-up and dial and hang-up.

I'm sure there's a way to beat the system with this "text" voting as well ...

I'm sure demographics have some impact on the number of votes people get, as well.

The last couple of years I have been really disgusted with AI. This is just opinion because I watch it every week, but I think the show is aimed so much at the teen-to-early 20's crowd that they can't identify with the contestants that perform the "older" songs (i.e. Bo and Constantine). Really, how many teenagers can sing along with "Free Bird" or even know who Lynard Skynard, Chaka Kahn, and even Hall and Oates are?

Just my take on things.;)

Two of THE WORST SONGS I've Ever Heard ...

Who is picking Anthony's songs ??? Terrible ... (and flat-n-pitchy as well)

If Anthony moves on to next week ... the voters putting him there, need to take the COTTON OUT OF THEIR EARS

Bo - Carrie - Vonzell .... should be moving there next week

Scott ... I liked what he did ... he's picking the right music (top 4 material ???)

Anthony or Scott...if one of the other three is voted off I will never watch AI again...I've NEVER gotten over Tamara Gray getting voted off before Justin Guarinni...quite frankly I've felt that this season has been the worst season anyway...none of the singers "blow me away" the way that some of the other winners and contestants in years past have...

:sigh: so who will it be

Hey, I'm 20 and I know all of those artists! But I agree with you, the show is aimed at teens and early 20's people. Sometimes I watch with my 13 yr old sister and she harldy knows any of the songs.

Last night was Vonzell night IMHO.

Vonz-Rocked. Great vocals, great stage prescence. She was fantastic

Bo-It was good. Good vocals, good presentation, but not WOW. It did not blow me away. It was nothing special.

Carrie-First song was great. It was fun. She sounded good and she looked like she was having a good time. The second song was terrible. Did not like it all. And hello???
Other than her first tune last night, I think I have seen that girl relax maybe twice. She looks frightened and stiff up there. Loosen up and have fun.

Scott-Whatever. He is nothing. He can carry a tune, but come on people. Any other top 12 that has been eliminated deserve to be up there more than he does.

Anthony-Finally figured out who his voice sounds like. And I mean a lot like. The lead singer of Kansas. It sounds exactly the same. Grab a CD if you don't believe me. I like his voice, but he did not do well last night. He had no control last night.

So, bottom 3 should be Scott, Anthony and............Carrie with Scott going home.

I have to disagree a little...Bo rocked. He is a rock star, and he blew me away last night! But I do agree that Vonzell did well too, although I think Carrie did just as well as Vonzell. Bo, Bonzell and Carrie should definately be the top three. Anthony has to go after last nights performance, and no matter how well Scott does next week, he has a weak voice. Sure he can sing nicely, but he is just average, nothing special. He needs to go after Anthony.

I hope so...Anthony's a nice guy and all but I've been waiting for him to go for awhile now...he should have gone the week Nikko left...Also, does anyone actually believe this Corey Clark guy (is that his name??) about the whole Paula Abdul thing...I saw the interview and I just found him hard to believe, I also don't trust people who look away from you when they are answering your questions...Anyone else?

I saw the interview as well. But a couple of night ago, ET interviewed one of the other contestants in Clark's group and she said it would of been impossible for Clark and Abdul to get together because the contestants were so closely monitored 24 hours a day by the show's producers and security. She also said that she saw Clark sleeping in bed with another female contestant (whom she wouldn't name) and that he was always flirting with all the women.

I don't know. Nothing would surprise me. All of this went down BEFORE all the contestants were in one house. Supposedly it started in the beginning when the contestants are still 30+ people. It would've been simple at that point in the contest. I just think it sure could've happened but did it? ?????????????????

I give up. I am not watching ever again. I have had reasons (one BIG one) to doubt my fellow Americans before, but this is just crazy. I guess every season there is a someone who stays...and stays and stays when they should have been gone weeks ago, but I cannot stand Anthony anymore, I just can't. Shame on you America, shame on you!

::shakes head::

Vonzell and Bo in the final 2---Bo wins.

Perhaps this is the reason why the bad ones stay:

"Wednesday's vote was a disappointment for organizers of votefortheworst.com, a Web site that was conspiring to get the least talented contestant the record contract prize. Savol, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, was its pick."

Ding dong! Scott is gone!!!!!

And all is right with the world once again. ;)

As far as the hit piece ABC did on Paula Abdul, shame on them. And Corey Clark has a lot of skeletons in his closet. He lied to the producers before and he's now coming clean but it's not related to his upcoming album release OR the fact he's shopping a tell-all book? I watched the show last night, simply out of morbid curiosity and now I'm sorry I did. It was a pretty blatant attempt by ABC to shoot down their competitor's number one show...

One thing they didn't mention is that judge favor is in no way a guarantee of contestant success. We've all seen people be highly praised by the judges and yet be voted off by America.

What bothered me the most was the iso clips they kept showing of Paula while Corey was singing as though it was obvious she was smitten. Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I've noticed that Paula is often very enthusiastic about performers ... Are they trying to imply she's slept with all of them?

Very disappointing performance by ABC. But it is sweeps week. I shouldn't expect much more, I suppose. And that's also quite sad...

Why don't they ever announce/publicize the number of votes each individual DOES GET (one week they did say what the 2 lowest got ... rounded up/down, of course). They do announce the GRAND TOTAL (rounded up/down to the nearest million) ... why don't they break it down ???

Just curious ...

I hate to say it, but I have actually thought for quite a while that the voting just might be rigged...or manipulated.

EVERY season some schmuck who shouldn't make it to the top 12 keeps around while a favorite is eliminated. And every season Ryan Seacrest makes a BIG deal about how peope have to vote if they don't want to see their favorite disappear. And every season the two episodes after the favorite has been eliminated do extremely well in the ratings...

Or perhaps I'm just too cynical.

You're not alone ... I'm with ya on this ... have had my suspicions since that red-haired kid last season JUST WOULDN'T GO AWAY !!!

I watched intermittently AI-1 (Kelly Clarkson), didn't watch any of AI-2 (Rueben) ... didn't pay attention at all to who/how/what/when ... the way things were done.

My daughter got me into AI-3 (Fantasia) ... watched from the beginning to end ... and yes ...

I don't like/agree with the way individuals surivive and go into next week. You'd like to think it was talent ... but, it ain't.

But, I still get involved and rank/critique/comment with my own system and vote .... the house does ... wife, daughter and me ... we have fun with the show that way.

Final IV - May Madness

I actually think Anthony, Bo, Carrie and Vonzell .... each sang one good and one not so good.

So, with that in mind .... my rankings for this week:

#1 - Vonzell
#2 - Bo
#3 - Anthony

#4 - Carrie (even her Country selection was not that great ... IMO) Her Philly selection song was terrible. But, I think Carrie will still make it to the next round.

Therefore, Anthony is gone ....

Last night seemed like an off night for all 4. Having said that....

Anthony was really the best last night. His voice was in good form. For the theme he was given I think he chose 2 really good songs for his voice. Neither style is his strong point.

Vonzell had a great 2nd song with Don't Treat Me This Way. 1st song-well you heard it. Stankarama.

Bo's Great Day was just eh for me and his Money was an ok choice and he sounded fine, but it is not a vocalists song. It just isn't. Was not impressed with him at all last night. Played it safe and almost lazy.

Carrie was NOT GOOD. Sin Wagon is a fun song that needs a strong voice and she just didn't have it last night. It sounded awful. She couldn't hit the low and she couldn't hit the high notes. If You Don't Know was atrocious. She was all the over the place.

I would send Carrie home. She has not been consistent at all. Most of the time she looks scared half to death up there. She needs to go.

Final 3-Vonzell, Bo, Anthony

Final 3-Vonzell, Bo, Anthony

I didn't think all of Vonzell's first song was bad... I thought it was ok until that one point where I felt she was kind of screaming (as an aside, why was she crying?) I thought she was great her second song, but she just seemed to be missing her spark.

Being that Carrie is one of my favorites.... she was horrendous last night, and I agree with your entire statement above. However, it seems hard to me to believe that she would be kicked off at all, let alone in the bottom two. She's never had a really bad week before but she seems to be one of the "favorites."

I liked Bo's second song - I really enjoy him. He also would never be in the bottom two.

I don't know who will get kicked off, but I say bottom two will be Vonzell and Anthony, even though I don't agree with those choices.

So, the final three are Bo, Carrie and Vonzell. For the record, I think Bo will win...

Bottom line for me is that I'll be satisfied if any of those three wins because I think each of them can be successful.

Two Tuesdays Left

I'd like to believe ... depending upon THE CATEGORY and their music selection within that category ... that - their ability to sing their selections, will determine who advances to the next week.

It's obvious on each individual's style of music .... their selection is CRITICAL.

Just when you think Bo knows how to pick a song, he screws up

Carrie is playing it safe .... this will be her downfall

Vonzell ... Vonzell knows how to win ... she figured it out a long time ago
