All Star Rumor: Lamar Odom for Peja and Bobby Jackson

Lamar Odom is one of the toughest players to defend in the entire league...especially if he is slotted in at the 3 rather than then 4. Additionally, he is an exceptional passer and has played every position on the floor except center at times during his career. He's also 2 years younger than Pedja.

What??????????? PLease post some stats to prove that.

i think it's more of an opinion than anything. tho i happen to agree that odom is tough to defend, cuz he's strong and athletic. don't know about him being one of the toughest guys to defend, but i would have to believe he's the kinda guy the kings are looking for.

As I said before I dont like Odom so take my comments with a grain

would like to see stats on how he one of the harder ones in the NBA to defend. Mind you I am a stat freak so I would have noticed it

LO would be a terrific fit ... i've watched him the last 3 years .. he has put his issues w/pot & hanging out w/the wrong peeps behind him. he has played great ball, and all you need to do is watch him play, when he is on he is as tough to defend as any player in the league. he can rebound like mad, shoot the three, go coast to coast and finish the break. LO for peja & bjax, do that in a heartbeat.

seriously, if you are objective for a second, what is bjax done the last two years? he can't help he is hurt i know, and when he is healthy he is big time clutch ... but he is 30+ and wants a big contract, which won't happen in sacto.

peja is the biggest part of that deal, and right now based on this season LO is the better player, sorry.

but this is probably all moot anyway, but looks like it got a lot of interest from fans who were going to stay out of the forums over the break!

!

I am very objective. I was one of the first on this forum to say the Cm trade was a great trade. LO on the other hand is a lazy *** that underperforms, always has a hurt something and just under performs.

Now I could be wrong and hope I am if we trade for him but...

LO played 80 of 82 games last year, and has played 49 games this year.

just out of curiosity, in that same span, how many games has webber or peja played in?? hmmm??

yes, past injuries were an issue, especially ankle sprains. and yes, he did start off as lazy. PAST PAST PAST PAST. i watched almost every heat game last year, i've seen half the lakers games this year. LO is NOT lazy.

as for underpeforming:

15.7 ppg, 10rpg, 3.5 apg... his rebounding skills are superior to anyone on the kings, he is very athletic as well. what have been the two largest issues with the kings this year? rebounding & athleticism on the front line....

I have to agree with jeffj on this one.

I think Lamar Odom could bring a lot to the Kings, and I think he could thrive in our system.

i'm gonna need another hankie VF

now if peja can get back to his form from last season, this is not much of a topic. but considering the current state of peja & bjax, this is a no brainer. of course, it also isn't going to happen...

Okay you brought stats to the man o stats I like that.

I agree he rebounds better then anyone on the Kings now, I still dont like him and that may be because of his past.

But props finally someone that shows me stats to change my mind... Nice Post Jeff

I agree.... and if Odom is putting up solid numbers now , he will only get better in our system..

i would agree that it definitely is unlikely. but geoff petrie's specialty is pulling off unlikely manuevers....so i wouldn't be surprised if something of this nature goes down. if not now, then before the trade deadline next season, when peja's departure (thru free agency) is only a matter of time.

Nope, it ain't gonna happen. Petrie will not deal with the Lakers, and he won't be involved with a deal that sends any of our guys to the Lakers. Gawd help us all if he does...but he won't.

That is not necessarily cast in stone. Geoff Petrie will do whatever it takes to make this team better. If he thinks he can come out on the better end of a deal with the Lakers, he'd do it in a heart-beat.

Could we play LO at the 3? Can he really match up well with other 3's like Finley, Q Richardson/Joe Johnson, McGrady, possibly Ray Allen and Kobe Bryant? I think he is a good player (the Olympics improved my LO appreciation a lot...he played pretty well considering the circumstances). Just wondering if we would be trading a starter for a backup to Webber/Miller here. LO does kinda remind me of a young Webber...without the power game that Webber used to have (and occasionally still does).

Course, my opinion (that Geoff will not deal with Lakers or send any players there via trade deal) and your opinion above are ... opinions! I just hope my opinion wins.

My OTHER opinion is Peja will kick butt when he gets traded. I don't want those butts to be Kings.

:p

I'm telling you this will happen! Why?? Because my wife bought me an authentic Peja jersey for my birthday!! After 20 years it's the first Kings jersey I've ever owned.. that's why it's going to happen!!:(

I sure hope there is nothing to this jersey thing...Pejas is the first and only jersey I have ever owned. I would hate to see him no longer be a King.
Having said that, if his being traded makes the Kings a better team how can I not be for that? I believe in the team not just one individual. And, for whatever the reason is, it just doesn't seem like Peja's head or heart is any longer with the Kings. If he doesn't want to be a King any longer then he should be traded when the time is right and if it will make the Kings a better team. I am not a huge LO fan, but no one can deny this team is in dire need of more rebounding and athleticism. The trade deadline cannot come soon enough.

Look at it this way: If the Mavericks can call Dirk a SF, and the TWolves call KG a SF, I don't think we'd have any problem with Odom as a 3.

Think about the frontcourt of Odom, Webber and Miller for a minute. Add Mike and Cuttino to the mix. Inside presence, outside presence, rebounding, shooting, passing skills AND hunger for a title. Sounds intriguing to me.

the problem wouldn't be LO matching up with those other guys, those other guys couldn't match up against LO.

when the twolves went to laker land, about a month ago, he and KG had a one on one battle going that was as good as any i've seen since Jordan was at his peak. LO can flat out play people, he was scoring on KG with drives, dribble breakdown, coast to coast, it was some fun to watch. miller, webber & LO gives the kings the hands down best front line in the nba. period. double period.

You know. That trade is sounding better and better. However, I'm thinking it's to much. Although Bobby may be injury plauged, when healthy he is an awesome player, and a difference maker. And when Bobby comes back would he be a Laker starter? Would he want to resign with them? Then we would have Bobby and Peja AND Kobe bombing on us, and everyone else. It may make us better, but the Lakers, I think, get much better.

If they would put Jumaine Jones in, I'd accept in a heartbeat. If not...I'd heavily consider it. (We'd have to throw in Erik Daniels for the trade to work.)
