"Obviously I would think that the odds-on favorite would be Miami, because Dwyane Wade would like to get with him and I think that would be where [Iverson and agent Leon Rose] would like to go. But we're still talking to them and we'll see what happens."

The level of Charlotte's interest has not been verified and it likewise remains to be seen how far Miami is willing to go financially to sign Iverson, whose free-agent options at 34 appear to be severely limited in this depressed economy. Iverson's well-chronicled reluctance to come off the bench and the drastic dip in salary he's facing after earning nearly $21 million last season during his tumultuous stint with the Detroit Pistons have likewise led to the perception that he might actually retire before taking any NBA job he can find.

I saw this thread from another forum and thought it would be nice to be discussed here...i liked the posters here better.

adding Boozer with Wade with be nice but AI?? not sure...they'll be nice on paper not sure on the court.

I don't see how Miami can put together an attractive trade package for Boozer. Since they don't have any cap space, they can't eat salary to provide Utah tax relief. If you're Utah, do you send away Boozer for Haslem and James Jones? Even a future first-round pick or two doesn't look so good if you're creating a team likely to have Wade, Boozer and Beasley playing together for a while -- the pick(s) would likely end up in the mid-20s.

Iverson is totally plausible. Boozer I don't see.

I agree that Iverson is more likely. Boozer's definitely the better fit though. AI can't co-exist with Wade, I can tell ya that right now

ugh... isnt o'neal a huge expiring contract? trading for boozer would be pretty easy. in fact they could get boozer and ak-47 for the low, low price of oneal and wright... both of whom are expiring contracts... miami would be foolish not to go for it....

outside of their center position they would be set to make some serious noise. hell they should trade oneal to the cavs and have them send ilgauskas to utah.... it would be a win-win-win situation...

But would Utah go for it? I don't know. I hadn't really thought about Jermaine because his contract was too big to match Boozer's. That's also a pretty major talent giveaway -- unless Jermaine gets back to form -- just to get out from under one year of Kirilenko's contract.

It turns out that (if Sham Sports' values are correct) Miami could send only O'Neal for Boozer/Kirilenko without throwing in Wright. Juuuuuust slips under the 125% + $100K rule. That would save Utah $5.7M in salary and an equal amount in luxury tax. So maybe Utah would do it and take a gamble on O'Neal.

Well, the fact of the matter is that Miami HAS to sign someone like AI or trade for someone like Boozer because Wade says he will only stay if the team can compete for a title or show that they are trying.

The Clippers may be prepared to offer their full mid-level exception of $5.8 million on a one-year contract. The Grizzlies are reportedly willing to offer something in the same neighborhood, but the Heat are thought to be interested in paying him less than half of that figure.

why would the clippers be trying to sign iverson? they already have baron davis and eric gordon... what would they do with iverson? same goes for the grizzlies... i guess marbury scared the knicks away from iverson, they dont want to go through a situation like that again.

miami needs to make this move, trading oneal for boozer and ak would be wise as well. i dont see why utah doesnt make that offer if they really want to move both players why not do it in one trade for a massive expiring contract.
