It's for his next campaign, not for the ESC. But it has to have some relation to the ESC also. My guess is they are trying to keep him in office so when Maloofs are out there's still a willing mayor to do the ESC.
 
KJ's got some big hitters in his corner! I get the AEG and LA Mayor connections, but I'm wondering why Eli Broad is involved? Unless we have another potenital buyer...

With their downtown LA football stadium plan being dealt a slight blow with the Vikings stadium thing, maybe they have a little extra money to spend on an arena...
 
Former Kings owner Jim Thomas and Eli Broad are good buddies. I seem to recall they sat together courtside for a game one time... Probably no big deal because it's a political fundraiser. But it's not like KJ needs more money for this election. He has a huge amount already and he's running against a cartoon character.
 
It could be a matter of KJ lining up early support for what just might end up being a run for the governor's office.
