"Nuggets coach George Karl missed Tuesday's game to be with his son, ex-Boise State guard Coby Karl, following his surgery to remove cancerous lymph nodes on Monday. George Karl is expected to be in Denver tonight to coach against the Sacramento Kings. Karl was replaced on the sidelines against the Lakers by Nuggets assistant Adrian Dantley. "(George Karl) said everything was fine and that it was a long surgery," Dantley said. "He said Coby was doing fine and joking around and (George) expects to be back (against Sacramento)." Denver Post

"Adrian Dantley has aspirations of being an NBA coach one day. His only previous NBA head coaching experience was earning a 4-1 record while leading the Nuggets" summer league team in Las Vegas last year. "It's a big boost in a guys NBA career when he gets a chance to sit on the bench and do this," said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who was honored before the game for making the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame." Denver Post

He did beat the Lakers!:D But really I think we should give him a shot. I think he has a lot of potential to be a good head coach. He's been an assistant for Karl who is a pretty good coach, he's been basically a legend on the court, I think he could command some respect from the players. Then we would just have to get some assistants who could help him get the hang of being a head coach like Avery has Del Harris in Dallas.

I'll be interested in seeing how many people they interview this time around, assuming they do decide to "go in another direction." I just want them to really open it up and consider more possibilities than they did the last time around. And it would be nice if the Maloofs just stayed out of it all together and let Geoff Petrie do his job. Of course, it would also be nice if I won the lottery. I fear the odds of the latter may actually be better than those for the former - and I don't even buy Lotto tickets.

;)

Hey Geoff put the candidates together and he said it's the Maloofs choice. So assuming he is telling the truth the whole thing ran the way it was supposed to.

Nope. Totally wrong.

The Maloofs were pretty much sold on Coach Whisenant until Petrie at least got them to interview a couple more people. Of those FEW, the Maloofs reportedly agreed to Eric Musselman after two pretty impressive interviews. They even mentioned the powerpoint presentations, etc.

It's pretty much taken for granted all around that Petrie had VERY little input into the actual selection process.

And if things happen in the same fashion, we should fear the worse. GP needs to have control...and hey, do what his title actually states...VP of Basketball Operations. Let the man work!

don't forget the bible musselman put together on how he would mold this team into a winner...

Adrian Dantley. Fine, fine choice. Glorious pedigree, Wootten coached, and pretty good NBAer.
Pair him up with Austin Carr, and NOW you're talking. ;)
