My blogs usually talk about the team, the recent games, or something in that vein.
Tonight, however, I'm going to give some high praise to all of you sitting in front of your computer screens or somehow reading this via your cell phones (that particular technology still befuddles me).
There are bazillions of websites on the Internet where people come to share various thoughts and feelings. There are sites for people who own Ferraris and those who prefer to walk everywhere they go. There are boards devoted to people who like the color mauve and those who see only black and white. There are boards for every purpose you could imagine and most likely a good number you couldn't conceive in your wildest dreams.
Kingsfans.com isn't just another message board devoted to a professional sports team. It is, because of all of you, much more. It is a place to come to share good news ... and to reach out for a cyber hug when things aren't going well. It is a place where when you arrive, especially after being gone for a while, you're treated like Norm walking into Cheers. People greet you and welcome you back.
KF has people of both genders of all ages, from pretty much every corner of the world with the possible exception of Antarctica. Just about every time zone on the planet is represented. We have people from all walks of life - lawyers, accountants, chefs, scientists, teachers, retail sales people, and almost every other occupation you've ever heard of. Our political beliefs are diverse, as are our feelings about a supreme being. Yet, despite all the differences, we come here and share a common bond, a feeling of community you don't often encounter via cyberspace.
This board has been called, and rightfully so, the #1 Sacramento Kings fan community on the internet. And we are a community - a lot of us have gotten to know each other, either in person or via long chats at various times, and we have a sense of community that cannot be denied.
As we head towards the end of another Kings season, I just wanted to thank each and every one of you on behalf of all the moderators here at KF for making our board such a great place to come and talk hoops ... or cars ... or favorite songs ... or pretty girls ... or anything else that becomes a topic of discussion.
Thanks to all. We couldn't do it without you.
