A question of pride: Retired Jerseys

So, if the Kings become the Sonics, I assume, the Sonics will hang the jerseys of retired Sonics from the rafters that were in Seattle before... but are those jerseys hanging in Oklahoma City now? Will they stay in OKC? Where will the retired Kings/Royals jerseys go? In the Areana in Seattle or in the dumpster out behind the Mafools soon to be vacant house in Natomas? (please note, I used the phonetical spelling of their name). Could the City of Sac get them and hang them somewhere?

Now the complex question: If the Sonics take back their old retired jerseys from OKC, won't Francisco Garcia, now Sonics players, have to change their number (#32 was retired for Fred Brown)?

If they become the Sonics, Kings numbers go in the dumpster. It seems the plan is to restore the Sonics history and delete the Kings from history.

That's still to be determined. Part of the agreement when they moved was Bennett would give the sonics name back for free. The history is still TBD. Most likely it will go back to Seattle and the fate of the Kings is unknown.

The Kings history, i assume would just lay dorment. Same as has happened to the sonics history during this period.

Well per the OKC Media Guide all the Seattle History and records are shown there

So will OKC release the Name and colors only? or will their Media guide get a whole lot thinner?

You can see part of CWebb's motivation. If the Kings become the Sonics, his retired number no longer means anything.

My understanding is, that Seattle gets all that back. So I assume all kings/Royals stuff would be displayed in Seattle (if they even want to) along with Sonics stuff, unless the Kings/Royals franchise is ever revived.

They get the colors and the name for free. The rest is TBD.

In my trips to OKC. I noticed that they do not have any of the SuperSonics banners or retired numbers hanging in their building. Yes, it's acknowledged in the media guide but not in the arena. On a side note, a lot of us Pacer fans on Pacers Digest are pulling for KJ & Sacramento to keep the Kings where they belong.

Thanks, Gnome! It's greatly appreciated. :)

Thank you so much!

if this does go down, surely we can come up with something. I mean the banners arent just going to go into a moving van and then forgetten are they ?
