It's been quite a while since we caught up with the Tales of the Kingdom. Enjoy...
(The fan who had so many doubts found them melting away as the time neared for the first trumpet to sound to open the new competitions. Yes, there would still be disputes, arguments, disagreements throughout the land, but through it all...the Kings were still the Kings and the fans still loved them. And that was the main thing... )
The time for the competitions returned. The fans were excited. They would see their Kings and all would be good...
But all wasn’t good. In fact, the fans were about to suffer mightily but not as mightily as their beloved team.
At the beginning of the time of the competitions, there were trumpets and rejoicing. The loyal fans turned out for their team ... and some even bought the uniforms that blinded the eyes when worn out in the bright light of day. There were some wins, and there were some losses. There was a bright knight - Sir Gawen by name - who proved he really did desire to wear the favor of the Kings as he quickly became the object of respect by the fans.
There were wins...and there were losses. But then there were more losses...and even more losses. Even worse, there were empty seats in the performing arena. There was something horribly wrong but no one could figure out exactly what it was. And the fans grumbled and moaned and tried to figure out what had happened.
There were injuries, some as minor as a pinky. Other injuries took away the hearts of the fans. When the brave Sir Gawen went down there were cries of despair among the loyal fans. The one seeming bright spot had been taken away...and there was confusion and chaos and talks of trades and talks of replacing the beloved coach with someone - anyone - who could turn the team to the winning side again.
But there, upon the horizon, were two young knights, barely more than pages, who suddenly burst on the scene and brought with them enthusiasm and joy and excitement. They were fool-hardy at times, but they were exciting. And the fans kept at least a little hope.
Finally, a rumor began to ripple through the Kingdom. The fans were torn; they might be losing their final link to the past. The fair Sir Pedja might well be leaving. The fans knew it could happen. They had seen the past slowly dissolve in front of their eyes. As much as they had anted to continue the tales of Vlade, Chris, Doug and Peja, it wasn't to be. They knew it, but they tried to pretend it wasn't true.
The rumors grew; then, like a bolt of lightning IT HAPPENED. The Tru Warier, the one they respected yet had every reason to fear, was coming to the Kingdom. The fair Sir Pedja was gone.
It was a difference as clear as night and day. From the very moment the Tru Warier appeared, it was obvious to one and all that a NEW ERA had begun for the Kingdom. The knights who had looked so discouraged and defeated started slowly to regain their self-esteem. The fans began to once again fill the arena not only with their bodies but with their very souls. The THUNDER returned to the land of Arco. And the results were plain for all to see.
The team has their WARRIOR KING. They will follow where he leads. And the fans will rejoice.
Slowly the pieces of the puzzle that seemed so ill-fitted are beginning to come together. The Young Knights bring energy and excitement. The Warrior King brings intensity and a will to defend that cannot be denied. The knight with ice water in his veins is once again doing what he does best. Sir Gawen is finally returning from his long absence and appears as though he, too, has found a rebirth of dedication to the game, to the Kingdom and to the fans.
And, once again, it’s a time of excitement and adventure in the Kingdom. It’s a time to enjoy the thrill of competition and battles hard-fought. It’s a good time to be a fan of the Sacramento Kings!
