Mister Slim Says:
Forty-eight minutes of regulation remaining. Roughly one hundred forty minutes of real time. After that, Kings Fans will be able to put this season behind them and move on... Most of you, anyway. For some others, the end of the season will just be a continuation of six months of hand-wringing and lamentation over Sacramento's draft status and whether or not they will get the Golden Ticket they've been demanding all year.
In the meantime, Sacramento closes out its 2025-26 season in Portland against a Trail Blazers team that, surprisingly, still has something to play for, ass they have not yet clinched the 8th seed. This means that they will likely be playing to win, and they appear to be pretty close to full strength for tonight's game. The Kings, not so much. Oh well, at least the ones who should be playing will be.
As another season draws to a close, I'd like to thank those of you who have stuck it out these past 81 games; wish I could say it's all been fun, but most of it has been fun enough, even if most of the fun was derived from the meta discussions going on during the games. And, personally, I very much appreciate it: I'd self-isolated to the NBA folder, the general Sports folder and the Lounge after I quit the Kings, and it took VF21 passing away for me to resume a more active role in Kings Rap, so I am mostly gratified when people engage in these [Game] threads, even when the engagement is mostly pertaining to a topic that I would just as soon have taken out back behind the woodshed and shot. The culture and community that you all have been a part of creating and sustaining for more than a quarter-century is the reason why I'm still here.
It damned sure ain't because of the basketball.
Play the kids.
