What’s crazy is Chicago couldn’t get a single team to trade for Derozan or Lavine and somehow this dumbass franchise ended up with both

And next year after we draft the midget who is the worst defensive prospect of all time we’re not gonna have another top 5 pick as we run those old heads to the ground.
Well you know that's how this is going to go. We will draft Acuff, and then pretend that there's positive momentum ending the year. Can't afford to bring back Precious, but probably for the best, he isn't worth what most think he is.
Acuff/Vet PG/Carter
LaVine/Monk
Keegan/Nique
Hunter/McDerrmott/Cardwell
Sabonis/Maxime

Cardwell and Carter will both get pushed out of the rotation because no reason to play good young players when you can sign old vets.

It was an exciting game. I wish something was actually on the line, apart from draft position.

The team played cohesive basketball at both ends of the floor, except in that chaotic third quarter. It's the brand of basketball I was expecting in October or November, not April.

The vets that Coach Christie put on the floor most of the season never meshed, even after bringing in not one, but two new point guards in Schroeder and Westbrook. The flip side is that whenever four or five of the youngsters were on the floor together, they actually played well together. But they were unseasoned. Now that Raynaud and Clifford have a whole season of experience, along with a couple of months for Carter and Cardwell, the young players, plus Achiuwa and Plowden, actually look decent.

I am trying to look on the bright side here, after such an unmitigated disaster in October, November, December, and the first week of January. It was hard to take for the fans and especially the players.
I'm sure there will be a season reflection thread in the near future, but you touch on something I think was a big part of this season's Kings story. The vets definitely didn't mesh, but they also bridled against having to play defense and having to sacrifice time and shots to rookies. Here we are at the end of the season and the vets are 100% supporting and encouraging our young guys. They didn't band together and stir up bad press or try to get the coach fired...they bought into an atmosphere and culture that most organizations only dream about.

Christie has always been an excellent connector that works well with all types of players. His Xs & Os leave a lot to be desired but there is no denying he keeps the team together and that's an important skill.

Vivek is probably too cheap, but I wouldn't be mad if we kept Christie as HC if we surrounded him with some legit assistants. Players seem to like him. I agree about the X and Os issues though.

But Vivek being cheap is what got us Christie as HC in the first place, so I'm not holding my breath haha.

It'll be a shame if we land a blue chip rookie and then botch the development with poor coaching. Although we've had some guys come through Sac and develop despite horrendous coaching so who knows.

crap like this is why we play to win.

That’s such a loser mentality. I was listening to G-man's interview with Deuce and Mo and I was thinking... Rooting for losses because you think a high draft pick will magically fix everything long-term is exactly why there hasn’t been sustained success since they moved to this cow town. Small-market thinking keeps you small. And let’s not pretend the No. 1 overall pick would suddenly change everything, they haven’t exactly made the smartest draft decisions in the past.

Support the present and back the players who wear that emblem NOW on your behalf.

Sorry, was driving from Palm Desert back to the Sacramento area all afternoon-evening yesterday so I'm chiming in late on the poll. A little story:

My first PC was an NEC 386 SX/20. The "SX" meant it was a much slower version of the chip, and I always said it stood for SUCKS. It worked well enough for some basic computer work at my local JC, though.

When I started really working in Excel with it at Chico State I would sometimes run out of columns to do my engineering analyses (not enough RAM, I think?). Excel's graphing at the time was also still pretty rudimentary, so I used a pirated version of Cricket Graph to do graphical plots for my classes. I would literally copy the data from Excel, paste it into Cricket Graph, click the button to generate the graph, and then go cook and eat dinner before coming back to see if the graph was plotted.

After a semester of that misery I got a 486 based Gateway 2000 4DX2-66V for Christmas in their cool cow-spotted boxes (this was in 1993, if I recall correctly). Plugged it in, fired it up, and ... nothing. Wouldn't boot. I called tech support. We ran through some troubleshooting. They thought it was a motherboard issue. They said they could ship a motherboard out to me overnight to do the swap myself (otherwise I'd have to wait for a new one or ship it back first, or whatever). I had never opened a computer case before but figured I could probably figure it out and if I had problems I'd fall back to their plan "B". Long story short, I swapped out the motherboard without issue, the computer fired right up, and that thing was a virtual speed demon compared to the NEC.

And I LOVED their AnyKey keyboard that came with it - that thing was the best damn keyboard ever made! Just google Gateway AnyKey keyboard if you don't remember that bad boy. It rocked.

I never bought myself a computer from a manufacturer again - all the ones I've had since have been "handmade" by me.

You aren't wrong, I'm frustrated and more fans should be. This team is pathetic. I've been a die hard fan for 30 years. They had a chance to build a real team and it lasted a year because we refused to make moves. We are the only team dumb enough to trade for Demar/LaVine. We trade Keon for nothing. We couldn't move Sabonis/Monk/Demar at the deadline. We were in a great spot to have at worst a top 5 pick, now we've significantly reduced our odds for #1/Top 4.

So ya, It's awful to watch. When you think the team is finally going to go the right direction, and in a great position to do so, they prove to continue being the most incompetent franchise in sports. I am pissed. Should we just pretend this was all part of the plan?

I'm just as annoyed as you are with the season but we can't really complain when the rookies win one on their own accord. The rest of the nonsense that has gone on this year is easy to criticize but the young guys playing hard is not something we can be mad at.

Yet here we are.

I don’t think people are really mad a the rookies. People are mad at how stupid this franchise is. Every other franchise got the message except this one. And it’s the same thing every season.

When this team had the worst record in the league i remember reading posts that the kings would F it up. Cause we all know this team can’t do ANYTHING right.

So we largely play the rookies and win. And people are upset. What's the solution? Point shaving?

Where was Curry at the end of the game? Maybe punish the warriors for sitting him because they are locked in the 10th seed. How about going back to the top 8 and getting rid of the play in.

The man took a weird step in the first quarter and was running like Joel Embiid for the rest of the night so I think the Warriors are safe in that regard. They sat Zinger and Draymond too but in fairness sitting those guys actually made them play better.

Solution? For the Kings organization?

Maybe it would've been better that Sacramento never had Vivek since he is largely a hated figure now anyway after rescuing this team and kept it in Sac-town and just simply being perceived as someone who isn't willing to open up his wallet.

So that the team would've been moved to a city that actually understand what it takes to win.

I was being sarcastic that the warriors were tanking.

Vivek's problem has never been about opening his wallet. They have had no problem paying for players. His problem is interfering with the guys paid to run the team when he doesn't know that much about basketball.

At this point, being angry at the Kings is a choice.

There's in-the-moment anger, the reaction you have when, say, somebody backs into your car. That's not terribly controllable, but it fades out pretty quickly.

Then there's lifestyle anger, where you're mad about the same thing over and over and over for months at a time and sometimes you have to find or even invent reasons to keep that anger alive. This sort of anger is completely intentional. Not much to be done about it.

Ditto.

(This is just for the missing like button.)

Can't really be angry at the Kings for winning this game. The damage was done in the last month or so. If the Kings get 5 and 4 goes up to 1 it is what it is. Be more mad at losing last years pick and Flagg. Now that guy is going to be a franchise changer. The positive and ironic thing is the Kings ended up playing far better once Christie started to play the young guys. It probably shouldn't come as a shock considering some of them can actually defend and will play the supposed ball he was preaching all season. It is what it is. The info the team gained and the confidence some of the young guys gained lately is far more important than losing 1 spot in the lottery. If the Kings were in a dogfight for the 1 seed and dropped then yeah, that would hurt but this wasn't that.

I love how teams with a win or two more than us over an 82 game season are geniuses and the Kings are complete morons.

Hopefully a few of these mad at all times fans will finally lose interest in the team and stop making themselves and everyone around them miserable.

It’s even worse than that. I thought surely this team can close this out.

What I have concluded is the team under Vivek can NEVER do anything correct. The only time I went to Golden One was to watch UCLA v Duke.

They managed to be top 3 and we didn’t not. Sometimes a single game matters. It was the difference between Franz Wagner and Davion Mitchell.
