$70 million of unplayable, untradable contracts

typical. The Tyreke troll defends the worst starter in the league to bash on Tyreke

What you don't seem to get is that I expect a lot more out of Tyreke than I do Salmons. Because, you know, Tyreke in MUCH BETTER than Salmons and MUCH MORE IMPORTANT to the team. Salmons is a stop-gap, Tyreke is a foundational piece. yeah we all know Salmons sucks but harping on it is pointless because the team doesn't sink or swim (no pun intended) by Salmons.

Implying that anyone with a dissenting view on Tyreke must be a troll. y'all have a different definition of troll that I do. To me a troll is one who does one or both of the following. A, posts things with the sole intent of getting negative reactions. B, posts things that they don't even believe themselves just to get reaction. I do neither.
It's a failure to understand the real problems with this team as opposed to bashing one of the only bright-spots this club has. People love to bring up the jump Westbrook and Rose made their third year and conviently forget to add in the supporting cast those guys play with. Kevin Love has had 0 success being a team leader until he got a TEAM around him this season. Tyreke absolutely has to become more consistent and put up bigger stats on a nightly basis, but i refuse to put the blame on him when there is obviously much larger issues that need to be addressed before Tyreke starts becoming a problem

Yes and no. Stars are only as good as the supporting cast around them. The fact we're getting virtually 0 production from Salmons, Hickson, Garcia, Greene (offensively), Hayes (offensively), IT (the hustle and energy is there, the stats aren't) is the reason we're 6-14, not Tyreke being inconsistent. JT has been virtually the only role player who's been worth a damn the entire year outside of Reke/Thornton/Cousins. You simply can't win without help and the Kings role players aren't providing any

Hogwash. That myopic, arrogant attitude (i.e. you just fail to understand the real problems with this team) is complete nonsense. I mean what, you think people like me are just too dumb to realize that the team is young, the supporting cast sucks, coaching has been poor, etc.? Get a grip. OF COURSE we realize those things. We just REFUSE to use them as EXCUSES to alleviate Tyreke from any accountability for his inconsistent and limited game.

Then you should realize that's whats holding Tyreke back from being an elite player. You're sorely mistaken if you believe guys like Rose/Westbrook would be the same players they are today if they were drafted by the Kings

We have to get to .500 before we can start luring in big fish.

It just has to be the right situation...not to harp to much on the past, but remember 1998 and how things can change almost overnight. We just need SOMETHING to happen..I know Petrie isn't sitting happy at the moment.

Why the hell is Tyreke discussion spilling over into every damn thread on this board?!

This thread WAS about the contractual deadweight (the majority of which was just added this offseason) that is clogging this roster, not providing benefit, and most importantly - making future moves difficult or impossible.

Why are people calling others "laughable", "myopic", "trolls", etc?
Keep it non-personal.

Thing is though, if you look at OKC outside of Durant and Westbrook, it's not like they have a bunch of great pieces and great veteran leaders. Most of their team is young and their vets are guys like Nick Collison, Royal Ivey, and Nazr Mohammed. I think it's fair and reasonable to attribute the great majority of OKC's success to Durant and Westbrook.

I do keep it non personal...up to a point. But when people start telling me I just don't understand basketball, just don't know the team, etc. that's making it personal and that's when I fire back. I'm not a "turn the other cheek" person.

Bravo! I think you know the answer and can see what one person can do to derail a discussion. I wrote a note about this for the forum before. I know WHO I was discussing but it could apply to a few others. The idea of the person is to turn the subject towards himself (sorry, ladies) and derail the discussion. There is no winning if you engage the person in an argument as the person has already accomplished what he/she wants and that is to have the discussion focus on him/her and not basketball. The longer the discussion, the more the victory. Don't take the bait.

And for you that take the bait and argue, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!? Now this particular poster is on my Ignore list because he seldom has anything to offer of substance and aggravates the heck out of me. I have two people on that list and believe it or not, there are some that might be considered trolls that could expand my Ignore list but I think are just a little misguided and can be salvaged and become great KF posters. Remember, the trolls are probably this way in the real world so what they are doing seems normal to them and they probably don't have a clue as to why they do it except that the attention it gets them feels good.

If troublemakers (the term I use) think I am here to just put them down or batter them into group think, they are way mistaken. I actually like some of them and don't want to give them grief. I want them to contribute in a less aggravating way.

If ANY of you think you are bigger than KF.com, forget it. The mods and other leadership have been here a long time. The general pattern of moderating was set down 12 years ago when KF was turned over to Jeremy. It will not change and KF will remain as one of the finest places to discuss basketball in the universe.

Lecture over. I return you to the station you were just listening to.

If this were Facebook, I'd "like" your post. :D

Now, back to the discussion, as far as the deadweight contracts - I have never, ever for one second been in support of the Salmons trade. I think that was one of the worst draft day moves in NBA history. Largely due to the fact that we were trading down for a player we just GOT RID OF a couple years back. Anyways, I don't want to beat a dead horse. I'm not sure what this team was expecting from Salmons as their starting 3. Great defense? Consistent offense? But where has he EVER gone where he's made a difference in W/L? Nowhere. Including here.

As far as Hayes, I was also highly anti-Hayes when he was signed. Now I will admit that he has changed my opinion and is one of my favorite Kings now. I was wrong and I will admit that. I'm not panicking over his shoulder injury, I just think they brought him back too quickly. Give him extra time to heal and he will be ok. Not to mention he banged around the entire game and nothing happened until the last intentional foul.

Garcia is a bit different for me. I love the guy and he is our longest tenured King so I have a soft spot for him. It sucks we have to pay him so much for his leadership/role player skills. Someone said it earlier that he'd be great on a Spurs/Celtics playoff team. We're far from that. We're years(?) away from that. I say let him go and let him go somewhere where he can contribute and win.

Outlaw was just 12th man signing so... whatever.

Now I'm not saying that the Salmons trade has worked out, but "one of the worst draft day moves in NBA history" might be a bit strong. For example, how about Tractor Traylor for Dirk Nowitzki? Vlade Divac for Kobe Bryant? There are any number of really bad draft-day trades that surpass trading non-star vet #1 for non-star vet #2, when #2 makes slightly more, has an extra year on his contract, and stinks it up after the trade.

Garcia/Hayes are neither untradable or unpayable. Sure Garcia is overpaid but nothing to lose sleep about.

Salmons on the other hand:mad:. What the heck was that all about?

Oh I agree with you. I said it's "one of the worst..." Not the worst but IMO one of the worst.
