Yeah but now we've got Deshaun Foster, too.

Whoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

I guess I'm truly in the minority because a bunch of spare parts including one the Rams kicked to the curb just doesn't fill me with glee and excitement about the future.

Don't shrug Mike Martz off though. Remember our offense last year? Martz will not allow that crap to happen.

I still can't get thrilled about anything 49ers related until we have a QB that can get our offense the ball.

When you look at it, (On paper) we have solid, albeit not great, receivers. A freak of nature at TE who has shown flashes. One of the best RBs in the game, who can also catch the ball. It's all a matter of QB play, IMO.

Our defense is good, and Im not worried about it...Its just a matter of the QB keeping them off the field more than the time they were on last year.

Fingers crossed for a breakout from Alex.
Seems to me that we can discuss all of the skill positions on Offense but until we get a decent pass blocking O line Joe Montana himself couldn't get it to the receiving corps. I go so tired of watching our QB running for his life back there last year...and Smith looked like the second coming of Elvis Grbac as he consistantly sprint right to avoid the rush and tried to hit someone on the same sideline for what would have been, in most cases, negligible yardage. You gotta keep all the DB's honest by going deep occasionally or they creep in on you and smother your receivers.

I'm not dismissing him or his influence out of hand, but I'm just not going to get my hopes up at this point. I think the 49ers have probably broken my heart more over the years than the Kings because of misplaced, misguided blind homerism.

I'm an equal opportunity homer when it comes to the 49ers and the Kings.

I'm especially slow to get excited this year after the way last year went. Things were looking so good (and I wasn't even expecting a "great" season, just a slight improvement) and got nothing. I'll root for them of course, but I'll with hold any expectations of success or hope.

We have made some solid moves in my opinion. Quality players for their respective positions without overpaying and without taxing the future.

I expect Justin Smith to help fill the huge void left by BY. I expect Foster to be more than just insurance for Gore. He will be the perfect compliment to Gore who is better running between the tackles. Foster can also catch the ball so he and Gore will cause fits in Martz's offense. Rossum just allowed us to not overpay Hicks. Thomas will be another great LB for Manusky to work with. And Bruce is a quality reciever with a couple good years left in the tank. He is trying to reach certain numbers so the motivation is there for him. Bruce will show our younger recievers a thing or two about Martz's system. The best signing was Hill. He is a nice project QB. He makes quick decisions and will light the fire under Smith's ***. Should be fun to watch the competition.

Personally, I would like to see us run some two TE sets and send VD out on deep routes with Delane blocking or vice versa.

I'm just hoping that Martz stays for more than 1 year. This OC carousel needs to stop to get some stability.

Takeo Spikes is coming in for a visit tomorrow, that would be nice have Willis and Spikes patrolling out there, all we need then is to replace Banta Cain with someone and we could have one of the best LB corps in the NFL. Also Isaac Bruce will not wear #80 even though Jerry said he could.

Niners have been convicted of tampering by the NFL lol

we lose our 5th and have to swap our third round pick for the bears third.

It's silly that everyone tampers and yet we are the only one to get punished, I guess the bears are the only team that cares...bunch of punks.

next time we play them we need to beat them 100-0 in thier house ;)

what a crock of a@$!

I can understand the fifth rounder but why the need to swap picks in the third?? Maybe the bears whined that we upped Briggs value thus forcing them to pay more for his services.

The bears are a bunch of sissy whiners. I hope we rock them hard the next time we play them!

Thanks.

That's kinda silly, if you ask me. I really hope that the league has more evidence than that. Those phone calls could of been for anything, like the author suggests.
There's more evidence than that. Do you really think Goodell would take a pick and swap a pick because of a timestamped phone call? No way.

I heard there were also emails which the NFL dug up.

rumph went to the redskins a while back

the only thing that would get me excited (besides the martz hiring) would be seeing Shaun hill behind center. I'm sorry but I have no confidence in alex. hill's got instincts and a quick release, and unless we have a monster o-line that can give smith all the time in the world, I don't see him having great success... unless he miraculously gets instincts and a quick release.
