for a 1st?
unclear of what Odoms value is, but I am thinking that the Maloofs want to save $$, and that 15M trade exception along with their 1st would be decent value for someone that we dont have too much use for.
I mean, Odom is better than Salmons (statistically as a starter, not by much), but he is not 10M better.
Would it look better if we didn't have to give our 2nd?

didn't the lakers trade 2 future 1sts for gasol? from my understanding you cannot trade 3 picks in consecutive years.

besides the logistics of the lakers pick, i really like this trade. we get to dump kt's contract, and get middle and late 1st round picks for artest. definitely accelerates the rebuilding process.

id really like a thornton instead of a pick, but this gives us actual flexibility, as opposed to petrie "flexibility"

Sorry, I thought it was that you cant trade 3 consecutive 1st round picks in a single trade, didn't know it included future trades as well.
But honestly, the Clips seem like a good team to trade with because they are actively shopping, and have that 15M trade exception.
What if we changed that 2009 Lakers pick to 2011. Yes its in the distant future, but the Lakers don't look like they will fail in the near future anyways.

The earliest the Lakers pick can be is 2012. Teams have to have a 1st round pick at least once every 2 years
