2006 All-WNBA First and Second Teams Announced

Hilarious. The Monarchs are FAR, FAR better than any other WNBA team, yet NONE of the Monarchs are on the first or second all-WNBA team! Hilarious! It just goes to show how much sports writers know... how does one become a sports writer? I am guessing, at some point in their life they come to this life-changing decision: Do I keep my job at Taco Bell/Carl's Jr./McDonald's/Burger King or become a sports writer?

I have no problem with the voting, all WNBA slots are individual awards for the 'best' at each position. Can't argue a bit with the selections here, it actually looked like they put some thought into it instead of looking at their ballots from previous years and and sending that in with the words "ditto for 2006"

The team award? No voting necessary on that, if the Monarchs complete the task at hand they won't really need to have any voters validate what they've accomplished as a group. Its in their hands now.

Each Monarch will tell you we have no stars - it's a team thing. I would guess that leads to skewed voting, since no girl hogs the ball or the basket.

Well I take solace in one thing...

One out of the 10 people on that list are in the Finals....

So take that ALL-WNBA team.

But It looks Like Sue Bird... America's Sweet Heart is Bumped off the list.

Good choices for the All-League team. Would have been nice if a few Monarchs made the grade. But one Award makes it all worth it....

WNBA CHAMPS...

WHO Runs This???

Not First Team All-WNBA!!!
Not 2nd Team All-WNBA!!!

MONARCH 2006

The Monarchs don't have "stars". They have team players who just happen to be very talented and functions as a cohesive unit. There's a big difference.

They are more interested in getting another win instead of making an "all-team" list. I'll take that anyday of the week. :)

Sue mighta wanted to score a little bit more this season and she mighta gotten some more votes. How can you argue with Beard, Augustus, Douglas and Taurasi at the guard spot? How do you compete with that if you are a point guard? Pondexter probably just missed a spot.
