10 Best Pickups This Summer (Kings at #10)
Found this article and thought the rankings were a little off with #10 and #8. How is getting Cuttino a better upgrade than Bonzi.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
10) Sacramento acquire Bonzi Wells for Greg Ostertag and Bobby Jackson and acquire Jason Hart for a future 2nd rounder
In order to shake things up and add some talent in Sacramento, the Kings were able to orchestrate two very beneficial trades. Although Bobby Jackson is a very talented player and has been a strong asset off the bench for the Kings, with Mike Bibby’s constant improvement, he became redundant. With the loss of both Doug Christie and Cuttino Mobley, Geoff Petrie was forced to act and convinced Jerry West to exercise Wells’ $8 million option in order for them to acquire him. In order to fill Jackson’s absence, Petrie then acquire Jason Hart for the ridiculously cheap price of a second rounder; a very good deal for the point guard with the third best assist-to-turnover ratio in the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
8) L.A. Clippers sign Cuttino Mobley
The Clippers lost Bobby Simmons to the Bucks via free agency and decided to open up their wallets (a rare occasion) and sign Cuttino Mobley for 5 years at a cost of $42 million. Mobley has been a consistently strong scorer for many years and will be earning a similar contract to what he had been in recent years.
