    If the Draft Were Today...

I am definitely warming up to Saddiq Bey. We are picking 12th. Most Villanova players are at least role players. Hes only a sophomore and has upside. Nesmith seems like he can help spread the floor but Bey can and he defends and seems like the better all around player. I also think it's wise to...

Wilcox wasnt bad in Atlanta but hes probably the least desirable of all the candidates.

[The Athletic] Kings request permission to interview candidates for head of basketball operations

Im not sure we need to swap 6 for 12. Philly really needs shooting and like him. A good GM will make those two (and many more) bid against themselves. Hes a starter in both places. It should be Huerter and six for Buddy. Or Im talking to Philly who is more desperate.

[The Athletic] Kings request permission to interview candidates for head of basketball operations

Amicks interview was very telling today. Someone was going to pull out (Simon) and someone else also TBA. That means only three names will be left on the list. Webster didnt even make it onto the list in part because apparently Vivek wont define the role and logistics of the job and he wont pay...

    If the Draft Were Today...

I actually saw him as a middling prospect in the mold of Marvin Williams or Al Farouq Aminu. Then I saw an ability to make plays, pass, create his own shot. His tapes are very impressive and I like him a lot. Outside of Avdija and Okoro currently out of our range, I like him next. He grew on me...

    If the Draft Were Today...

I dont think we know for sure what his value is, but IF Atlanta does put that deal on the table then its something to consider. Hes an elite 3 pt shooter and elite skills give a team a shot at getting something of value. Time will tell.

    If the Draft Were Today...

Yes I forgot to include him in my original post but he certainly does mirror Lavine in quite a number of different ways. His mannerisms, drives etc. He is more articulate when speaking than Lavine. The thing that is encouraging about him is how aggressive he is at driving. On NBA 2K Brent Barry...

    If the Draft Were Today...

Yes new but I post something here and there. Yeah I saw those sections. Thought a separate post lottery post might be good discussion.

    If the Draft Were Today...

If the NBA draft were today and the Kings stood pat at 12, who would you pick? I was happy we didnt move down and was pretty much resigned to staying at 12 as a "victory" during the lottery. I was thinking of some of the "upper echelon" prospects and not all of them excite me. As you move down...

Who would you hire as the new Kings GM?

Bobby Webster. He doesnt like the spotlight. Very much a team player but integral behind the Kawhi trade, finding Fred Van Vleet and several other low draft picks or undrafted FA. His personality is kind of like Petrie. Hes quiet, but gets stuff done. He reminds me of Petrie in that he finds...

    Peja To Step Down

Vlade did have convictions even if they were controversial. Which parts did you not agree with out of curiosity? BTW the GM to replace Vlade is Bobby Webster. Theres a story about him on the Athletic and how we works in terms of relationship building etc. He is very "low key" and is termed a...

    Peja To Step Down

The thing about everything is some people are "happy" about the changes and some people are wondering what this does for the franchise in terms of stability, reputation and most of all team success. Since team success is a shared goal of everyone---and if its not a shared goal of someone then...

    The State of the Kings

Other than coaching we have a deficit in talent evaluation. Justin James is nice but look at Bol Bol. I think Kings fans sometimes overvalue their own players as most fans of other teams do. Whats wrong? Lets look at whats wrong: Fox is borderline all star to he hasnt reached his ceiling. But...

[Game] Kings @ Nets - Friday, Aug. 7 - 2 PM PT; 5 PM ET

The wild card no one talks about is Covid-19. It just killed a professional athlete in Europe when he passed due to a sudden heart attack. Covid-19 causes permanent damage in half of people not showing symptoms. Long term symptoms may persist. Every player positive may be impacted more than they...

    The State of the Kings

The problem is coaching. When Fox is running the offense and driving like a runaway train towards the basket hes virtually unstoppable. In the half court he can create not at the same level but he can. Problem is Walton likes to play Hield at PG and put Fox off the ball standing in the corner. I...

    The State of the Kings

I never said trade Fox. I said trade for Bam to play with Fox. Normally I write this stuff off but thats Windhorst and hes connected. Its not Chad Ford or Ric Bucher making stuff up. And I could totally see Riley going all in on Giannis. Its a very Riley thing to try and he has a hx of pulling...

    The State of the Kings

The Kings need to work on a rebuild plan. Its little things but its also talent related. If Bam is available, hes played with Fox. He can pass, rebound, defend and score. Hes young and will probably continue improving. If true the Kings should be all over...

    The State of the Kings

Thats not Duke. That tape is Drew league with NBA players at age 17. Fultz never did that. Bagley did. The one point you have that does concern me is making teammates better. I have seen effectively zero evidence he can do that. Never have. Thats totally fair. His defense was exceptional in that...

    The State of the Kings

Also look at TJ Warren. He was "solid" before. Hes scored 50 and 34 back to back. He even blocked shots and played good defense. But Phoenix thought he was "just okay.:
