Kings sign Keon Ellis to 3-year deal

He has two advantages over Davion in my mind. Number one, he's not a (really) poor man's De'aaron Fox offensively. Davion is really a lead guard who needs the ball in his hands and has a history of stopping ball. "Secondary" is key here. Two, he's actually a legit sized SG. Either way, I do...

    Kings own the Lakers

I do think Huerter is the odd man out in the starting 5, more so than Barnes ever was. He's mainly there for offense while being the clear 5th option in the starting 5 and the weakest defender of the group. Just need a little more sample size from Keon in his shooting, but if he's 37%+ from 3...

It really might come down to the April 12 matchup against the Suns. Though the Suns have their final soft stretch in the week of March 20th, after that it's nothing but pain until the end of the season. If they flub one or two of those game in that four game stretch, it might not even come...

I mean, this is true. That's why the Celtics are where they are and we are where we are. I'm just saying it couldn't really be avoided tonight, and they didn't really jack up 40-50 3s anyway. I thought they played good enough defense that they should've won had the shooting just been...

I thought they played excellent in the first half otherwise but the 3s were so bad Houston kept it close. Then in the second half defense was only average to above average and the 3s never recovered.

Suns have a nasty ending schedule against tough teams and a million road games. They're back ahead of us now after this but BBRef has them finishing 8th below Dallas too with the lowest probability of making the playoffs of the three.

[Game] Kings vs Houston Rockets, 3/10/2024, 3:00p PT/6:00p ET

In all the previous matchups against these two teams, it wasn't really all that egregious. The opposing FG%, the 2P FG (so I'd assume PitP), and rebounding against the Pelicans stood out a lot more.

If you're bad at 3s you're playing from behind already compared to all other aspects of the game. Thing is, they're NOT bad at 3s. If they were, even if we decided to not shoot many, we'd be sitting at a 30 win season.

[Game] Kings vs Houston Rockets, 3/10/2024, 3:00p PT/6:00p ET

They didn't do anything else really egregious in this game. 112 points isn't notably bad in this era, percentages from the Rockets aren't notable, Kings FTs were good, turnovers were fine, outrebounding the Rockets. Screaming about effort and pride and defense in this situation is gonna seem...

[Game] Kings vs Houston Rockets, 3/10/2024, 3:00p PT/6:00p ET

Pride means literally nothing with 3 point shooting. Defense and effort but shooting is highly technical and variant. Whether a team goes 6-30 or 18-30 from 3 has basically nothing to do with pride.

Those threes weren't even that good half the time. Feel like those iso contested chucker 3s young players jack up sometimes and they went in. I recall Houston a couple years ago did this to us too.

Didn't get to catch this one live so watched it on recording. Just wanted to point out, during the 2nd quarter when the Kings were on their offensive tear, did it feel like the refs were purposefully trying to mitigate the L.A. meltdown and momentum switch with those million touch fouls during...

He's one player and eclipses all three of those guys defensively. I'm not against having one defensive specialist out there but giving all three of them minutes and it's a hard no. He's also better offensively than any of them.

[Game] Kings vs. Chicago Bulls, 3/4/2024, 7:00p PT/10:00p ET

Really I think it's the offense. I think Davion and Keon and Davion and Kessler and Duarte and Davion's offense is worse than Huerter and Monk's defense. We know Monk and Huerter are bad defensively but what if we had another 3/D wing and backup point who was actually a two way player instead...

[Game] Kings vs. Chicago Bulls, 3/4/2024, 7:00p PT/10:00p ET

Too much Keon and Kessler with Davion and you risk tanking your offense. To be honest, as I alluded to earlier, I think the momentum switch came from the late third quarter with a rarely seen bench unit since we usually stagger Fox and Sabonis. And it wasn't because of the defense, it was...

Not to nothing I counted a few push-offs near the end immediately in between Fox getting mauled on the other side. Was annoying.

Well, fortunately for us that's the last one. There's still some middling East road games left, but I feel more confident with those! Pistons, Hornets, and now Bulls all were road victories. I'd still rather get all the playoff teams and contenders at home though.
