Probably needed a few more tackles, another sack, or a fumble recovery at least, but I think Sweat should have gotten MVP.
6 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 6 pressures against Mahomes in the Super Bowl is impressive enough, but even more so in context to the whole D’s utter dominance.
6 sacks and 16 pressures without blitzing?! 3 turnovers including a Pick-6. Only 23 yards of total offense and a single first down (on KC’s first play) at halftime. KC didn’t get past midfield until down 34-0 midway through the 3rd and it was already effectively over.
Vic Fangio’s crew deserved the MVP honor, and Sweat was the best candidate.
… that said, not mad Hurts got it. Happy for him to receive the accolade and recognition after years of being dismissed as a top tier QB, even if, while he played fine, he wasn’t the reason they won.
