Free Agency Open Thread (NBA and Kings!)

Remember "The Blueprint" that his people came up with, which included multiple max contracts over his career? I genuinely enjoyed watching Tyreke dominate with his driving ability. He improved some on his jumpshot but it was never deadly and injuries were the difference between 10o mil deals...

I keep coming back to him as a gettable RFA since Utah is prioritizing Hayward and Hill. An overpay 3 year deal with the 3rd year a team option. Helps us get to the salary floor and if done tonight, it's pretty debatable whether Utah matches or not while they fight for Hayward.

Aren't we at 38 + Bogdan + 4 rookie contacts? Probably closer to 60 now. Overpay Collison and Ingles on short deals with team options and we'd pretty much be to the minimum.

    Bogdan Signed (merged)

I'm fine with this. Hopefully frontloaded to keep space clearer for the next two years.

Yes...definitely some things have to play out. Utah has to figure out Hayward and their point guard situation before Ingles. Maybe there is an opening for Vlade. Porter we'd have to max and pray Washington let's him go which is unlikely. I don't want Iggy anymore.

Today is the last day to trade Afflalo

Maybe Portland panics today and gives us a player and a 2019 draft pick for him. Probably just going to be cut today. I cannot fathom keeping him considering Tolliver was cut.

    Post draft reactions

Like was already mentioned, Monk was noticeably shorter than Adam Silver who is 6'3". He's definitely smaller than Fox. He's very talented, but A 6'2" shooting guard is going to have an uphill battle.

    So the cousins trade.......

Yeah, moving forward. But when I saw that Butler trade yesterday I couldn't help think about whether the Kings could have beat that deal and had Butler/Cousins leading the way next year. Chicago did do worse than the Cousins trade. ha...that took some effort. Bulls fans are in meltdown mode.

At SF, swing for the fences with Porter since he's young but Joe Ingles would be the more realistic target maybe on a 3 year deal. And since he's a non-max player and we have so much money, he's gettable. Seems like a 3&D workhorse that would start, play off the bench, or do whatever you ask...

I'd keep Collison on a 2 year deal structured similar to Afflalo's. We keep consistency, he gets paid a lot per year, and the Kings can get right back out of it or use as a trade asset next summer. He's not going to get signed as a starter anywhere so it's a chance for him to make starter...

What would you give up for Porzingis?

Phoenix could really make a good move there. Bledsoe, #4, swap Chandler for Noah, maybe some sweetener. That'd be a pretty solid haul. It's more than we got for Cousins :(

    Paul Milsap

Every agent is going to spread rumors that the Kings are interested in their client so they can drive up the contract value. Too much cap space and bad decisions in the past make us an easy target.

    Dennis Smith Jr.:

if we do, get ready for the Kahn comparisons. Rubio/Flynn, both right before Curry :)

    Celtics and 76ers deal

I certainly hope this is the angle. Use #34 and cap space to get from 10 to 7 or similar. It's pretty difficult to put together a PG/SF combo that ISN'T interesting with 5 and 7.
