They need his salary in the $20-30 mil range to make a trade for a Gannis or someone that comes available. Otherwise, it's Butler or Draymond. To make salaries work. Which is why if he takes the QO they are screwed.
They are like $350k under the first apron now with Kuminga at $8 mil. If they trade him and get say Monk at $18 Mil they are now $10 mil over the apron. Not hard capped, but over the Apron that applies restrictions
So according to Bobby Marks. The Warriors can't do a sign and trade with Kuminga because they will be hard capped at the first apron and wont be able to sign other players.
12 min mark he discusses it.
I disagree. I think he's looking at the MLE for his next contract if on the market. Teams aren't having cap space and if they do they aren't looking to spend on LeVine.
So if you are Levine, do you risk getting injured on the opt in year/decline in value or do you try to get a longer term deal for less per year, but more overall guaranteed money?
Depends what teams are willing to offer. 3 years $75 mil is better than 1 year $45 mil. At what point does he become a vet min contract with the current CBA?
It will still be missing both when he's not available. He's a wasted roster spot. Even if he plays well there's no guarantee he will be available when he's really needed.
