I'm starting this a little early but what the heck...with the injury to Kobe Bryant, this game just became a lot more interesting and relevant and winnable.

The Lakers without Kobe Bryant made not have what it takes to get into the playoffs, especially if Utah and Denver can get their stuff together. It was a difficult task with Kobe. If his ankle is as bad as reported, this could be a defining moment for the Laker franchise. Can all those pieces still form a winning picture without Bryant in the middle of it?

I remain somewhat skeptical about the injury, for the simple reason this is the Brave Little Soldier we're talking about.

There have been traditions here over the years before Kings-Laker games. One of them is to "chant" BEAT LA in a dedicated fandom thread. The other is for me to post a very traditional comment. I'll start the fandom thread in a moment. In the meantime, here's my comment:

DIE LAKER SCUM!!!

This is my last chance to see the Kings play in person before the team is sold. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to. I feel somewhat uneasy about missing it, but as soon as we find out who the new owners are I will feel either relaxed or regretful about it.

It won't be the last time. It isn't the Jameson talking, but I've got a good feeling that this isn't the last time that the SACRAMENTO Kings beat down the Lakers.

The talent to do it is here right now.

Do you mean GSW/Houston/Utah rather than Denver? Denver is sitting in like 3/4 comfortabley not sure why they would need to get it together.

Even if Kobe was fully healthy when they played us at full strenght (Cousins suspended first game DHo/Gasol went off), didn't we beat them with Cousins? I just think we match up well for the Lakers and we can run on em them at will with Gasol/Bryant they are not really a team I worry about as a Kings fan at all.

Hopefully our guys play like a team today...On the rare occasions that they do, they usually win.

Cousins tends to get up for the Lakers, so we shouldnt have to worry about him half-assing it like usual...Hopefully he gets Howard in foul trouble.

Seems like the Lakers are gettin more love than usual from the refs lately, Stern must want them to make the playoffs...I expect the FT disparity will cause a lot of the posters here to cry foul (pun intended!!).

Final prediction: Kings 118 Lakers 97....Why? Not because I'm optimistic.....But because.....

BEAT LA!!! BEAT LA!!! BEAT LA!!!

No Kobe means Evans should be able to have a big game, Nash guarding IT means IT should have a big game as well. Hopefully Howard doesn't put our front court in foul trouble early, this game is ours for the taking.
