OK.. What the hell did I miss here.. The one game I have to miss and they win by a point.. Ugh.. I hope they have a replay on CSN.

This...might not be the best game to watch a replay of. Just look at the scoreboard, take the win, and watch the Celtics game on Sunday.

Knowing the outcome before you watch will most likely save you from a lot of angst, frustration, rage, etc. :)

Teams don't consistently play their bench and leave their best plays on it beyond the 4 minute mark of the final quarter. That's the definition of F'd up rotation patterns.
Not to mention the whole point of COACHING is to teach guys not to **** up their execution. If in 1 whole season he hasn't been able to teach them how to execute under pressure then either he's a terrible coach or we have terrible players. It's been this way all season long. Even in our wins where we play well I have felt that it's largely due to the other team's inability to execute than our ability to execute. When other teams turn the ball over we are able to get out for easy shots because we're a very quick team. When other teams don't guard us we can score a lot because we are loaded with scorers. But once other teams put pressure on us we haven't shown an ability to execute at all because we don't set screens and run plays.

Btw, Cousins for some reason decided to stop passing the ball out of the post in the second half. Led to lots of missed shots and turnovers.

Not sure if I'm happy with the win or not. It was a lucky shot and knowing the media it will completely take any pressure off of Smart and the team for giving up the huge lead. Media will probably focus on JJ being confident with his shot, working with Alex English blablabla.

Losing that lead had nothing to do with rotation. It had everything to do with not making the extra pass and reacting to defensive pressure.

If I wanted to pick on Smart, the only thing I didn't like from him was having some iso's in the second half with Cousins. Forget the freaking isolations.

Aka look at Jimmer's boxscore
Yea lol. When Jimmer plays well (and I was frikin stoked at how well he was playing in the first half) Jimmer fans are all "This team is losing because Jimmer doesn't play 48 minutes a game nehnehneh". When Jimmer is on the floor not doing anything and not helping us protect our lead they keep quiet.

The Kings had an impossible first half, an abysmal third quarter and looked as though they were going to give it all away. Then, just like the good old days, they found a way to eke out the W. This game will do more for overall morale and team camaraderie than anything else. Because, at the end of the night, it wasn't a one-on-one play that won it. It was a shot after three passes that did the deed.

And endings like that are why I love this freaking team. :)

So here's the question: is it the coaches job to teach players to make that extra pass and to react correctly to defensive pressure? Or are all the best teams in the league just so lucky that all their players fall into their laps perfectly poised?

No, it's just that he has some young players and then he has some players like Thornton who just don't have it in their nature to make that extra pass. Ultimately, the players have to do it on the court. The coach can talk all day long about sticking with the offense when the pressure is on, but when the pressure is on he can't go out and do it for them.

Took him 31 minutes to do so...check out the assists/minutes of some other players.
He's had a tough week wouldn't you say? The way fans **** on him disgusts me. Sorry but he's not going to do well if people heap crap on him.

Yes, I'm defensing him. This could have been an awful game foe him.

Somewhat agreed. Cousins, Thornton, and IT came in around the 6:30 mark, around 2 minutes too late. Other than that, I was slightly impressed how Smart kept the rotation to 9 people (other than a random 3 min showing from Chuck) and how he stuck with a 3 bigs rotation. Wasn't perfect, but certainly a step in the right direction over playing 12 guys a night

errrr, I have an answer but let's enjoy the game like we used to. :)

See above. The game is very subtle. Little things weren't there in the second half that were there in the first half. A little more dribble, dribble by Thornton, a little more tunnel vision by Cousins, a little more of not making the extra pass by Salmons. I'm not necessarily picking on Thornton, but just as an example, IT made a nice drive and kicked it to Thornton; Thornton was somewhat covered and he drove to the hole; he didn't see a wide open Salmons at the 3 pt line because of his tunnel vision of the moment and he went into three guys into the paint. Smart can show the film, he can repeat the mantras, but ultimately guys have to have the poise to make the extra pass instead of panic and do what they feel comfortable doing.

Not to mention a total waste of our #5 pick :) Still trying to figure out why in the world we drafted TRob

Our inability to rebound is really, really concerning. Tyreke coming back will help some, but we were getting dominated tonight even with JT and Cousins on the floor. We can't expect to win if our rebound differential is -10+ a game.

Again, another huge stat for us tonight was the 28/11 Ast/TO ratio. That's 3 games now where we're sharing the ball really well and not turning it over. Gotta hope it continues as we move forward

Agreed on Thornton. I wish Jimmer had a few years under his belt as he seems to be developing in the right direction. Very coachable. Don't anybody over react, please. I happen to like the way he is growing especially after last year.

So again, winning teams are just fortunate that their players don't have tunnel vision while ours do? Or we're young, or what? How come our players can never develop poise?

He has to play to figure why we drafted him. Put Trob in the role JJ played tonight and move JJ over to SF. I'd be curious to see why Trob didn't get any minutes tonight if anyone catches Smart's postgame interview
