Kings random comments thread

Same as the trade thread. We don't need new threads for every idea that pops in someones head. Unless it's game or player specific and needs a thread, just post it in here so we can keep the conversations fluid. It get's very difficult to follow all these individuals threads.

Why would you need to search for a topic. Just talk about whatever. You don't need to always go back and reference the original conversation.

Do you really think we need a new "Jimmer" thread every other day?

I have been part of a few long standing boards and they all have general discussion super threads for basic every day talk. If I have a thought, that isn't thread specific, I don't ant to start a new thread every time that gets 6 replies. Trust me, this will reduce the clutter. We can still have game specific threads and all that.

See perfect posts for this thread. Right now 9 of the threads on the first page of King's Rap have less than 20 posts. When then happens good threads get moved to the 2nd or 3rd pages and get buried.

Isn't that the point of a forum, to make posts and discuss them when they pop into your head? I could see an "All Jimmer talk thread" if we had 10 Jimmer discussions on the first page. But a Kings General Discussion thread for a Kings General Discussion forum is redundant and makes no sense.

100% disagree. Yes, if you have something you want to discuss post them, but they are not all new thread worthy. That's why you have a single thread for random thoughts/posts and discussions. Games, major player movement, etc., those get there own thread. Each player could get their own thread as well. I just seems like this board is a lot of "hey i thought of something so I am going to start a thread about it" it gets for replies and pushes a more poingant thread down the page that ends up dissapearing.

I am using Jimmer as an example, but I bet there are over a dozen Jimmer topic thread on here. How many threads do we have discussing Keith Smart, How many fire westphal threads did we have? Do you really want to see a thread on firing Smart again the next time he has a bad player substitution pattern.

Maybe you guys haven't posted on a lot of message boards, but most of them have topic specific threads, and usually one or two general purpose threads where random thoughts/discussions go. Not sure if I can be more clear than that.

Random question about the falling tarps last night. I read somewhere that they were covering up some advertising...what advertising were they covering? Or was it part of the blackout promo? Just curious.

It was covering the Thunder Valley and PBP signs on the lower part of the scoreboard. The cover has been there since the start of the preseason.

So this thread has turned into a thread talking about the reasons for the thread to exist. lol. Thread. What a strange word. Ever say a word so many times it just sounds weird...

I was talking with a friend the other night that has some ties to the organization through his company. He basically told me that the Maloof's themselves have money, but the Kings don't. Not that the Maloof's are necissarily flush with cash but they are making the King's team pay for itself. There is not infusion of cash from the ownership. He also said a lot of the maintenance on Arco and the Kings organization was being delayed until they got the leagues profit sharing check. So things have been started to be done the last month or so since that check was received.

He also said the Maloof's don't really have a lot of say so in the daily operations of the Kings. They help set budgets for the various departments (sales, IT, maintenance, etc.) and then let the ones in charge of those stay within those budgets. They only get involved when something goes awry.

Not that any of this is ground breaking news, but just confirmation of what we knew or expected from someone who is close enough to the situation to know what is going on behind the scenes.

Very true but join us anyway in all our discussions. It's srt of the nature of it and us. Good luck in your venture.

The tarps were covering last year's sponsors (Thunder Valley from my seat, not sure if others came down or not) on the scoreboard. The signage hasn't been changed yet. So they decided to cover it with plastic like a broken window on a '86 Buick. The tape likely got warm from the lights/moist from the humidity and lost some adhesion.

It was not from the roof. You can see one of the hanging tarps in my photo. There is one hanging below the sign.

It might have technically been tarps which fell, but on tv it looked like huge trash bags falling from the roof. It's flat out embarrassing. Four times. It must stem from the Maloofs cost cutting measures. Couldn't pay to get the job done correctly so they instead cheaply had someone tape tarps up there?

Good idea. Each player gets their own thread. If you mention a player outside of said thread, your post gets moved to the correct one. The only new threads that are ever allowed to get posted are game threads, grades and big player transactions. Or should grades just be done in each individual player thread on a player by player basis? Because I'd hate to see the grades knock last months game discussion off the front page. Is my post even allowed in this thread or should it be moved to the Off Topic forum? Am I in communist Russia or Nazi Germany? This board isn't so popular that good threads are being knocked down by troll threads. Quit trying to govern what doesn't need to be governed. It's the beginning of the season and the posts will be down to nill in a month when we all realize the Kings suck again.

I just noticed you made the same thread in the personnel forum. The front page goes back a month and a half and you called it cluttered? What a joke lol

Hey, I think I finally found something that we can all agree on. And that is, the chances of us all agreeing that this thread is either a good idea or bad idea is virtually zero. I like the idea of a catchall thread- cuts down on the clutter. It's voting day, do we need a poll to resolve this monumental question?

i was watching the Brooklyn nets game and the commentator was saying that the Coach has said that he is going to make sure he has either Joe Johnson or Deron Williams on the court at all times. this is how a good team is coached. none of the BS sub patters we see from Smart. i like Smart as a person, and i like how he has gotten this team to bond and to play defense, but if he cant learn to use rotations like an NBA coach then he needs to go

Pop plays 5 off the bench together, PJax did the same with the lakers.

I'm not really sure I'd call Avery Johnson a good coach.

Really, you thought the posts about the tarps falling should have had it's own thread?
The point to having separate threads is so that people don't have to wade through a whole bunch of random comments to find the one nugget they're interested in with these kinds of threads. Good threads with lots of activity stay towards the top of the index while those of limited appeal will quickly drop off the first page.

If you don't like a particular thread, you can always just skip past it...
