Chris Webber on KHTK 1140

Did anyone here Webber just explode on Grant during his show today? Did they have a bad relationship or something because thats what it sounded like. Chris was acting unaware of any mistake he made and started SLAMMING Napear for even asking him about it, really defensive. Sorry I don't have the sound bite, but i was just wondering what your thoughts were if you heard it.

I think Webber was told by the producer that he was coming onto the show to talk about last night's game. It sounded like he was totally blindsided - and perhaps a bit defensive - by Grant's question. You know, "So, Chris? Exactly what were you told before the show about the arena deal?" or words to that effect does sound a bit confrontational.

I will admit I was somewhat nonplussed by Webb's comments last night, but only the bit about the arena being voted down. His loyalty to US - the fans - is beyond question. I hope Grant can get this straightened out OFF THE AIR as Chris Webber is a main jewel in our crown.

I love Chris but he was so obviously wrong in this case. If you have no idea what's going on, don't pretend that you do and go around spreading outright wrong info as if it's the truth

I honestly don't give a flying rip what Webber said about our arena issues. I love Webb and nothing is going to change that. So he didn't have his facts straight? Who freaking cares? Him missing the facts will not do any good or bad to our arena deal. As far as Grant? Uh, yeah my loyalty will ALWAYS be with Webb.

I'm sorry but I vehemently disagree. Webber speaking on TNT and totally mispresenting the situation is a very unfortunate turn of affairs, since a lot of national viewers would have no way of knowing what he was saying was patently untrue.

I hope they can get it settled.

That's fine. I guess I just don't care what the national viewers think. In the long run, none of them matter. Did he get his facts wrong? Yes. But I've moved on.

Grant said that his producer Jody Bacon specifically told chris why Grant wanted to talk to him. Chris had an agenda, hence him just yelling and not letting grant talk. That's what my 6 year old tries to do when she knows she's wrong. Webber came off sounding like a petulant child.

Wow. Final score: Webber 1, Napear 0.
Sorry, I disagree. Not that Napear was right (I don't particularly care for him myself), but Webber was clearly not professional at all. He even asked for what he got wrong and wouldn't stay on line to hear it. He (well, all of the TNT crew, including him) screwed up on national TV about the situation, seemed totally unaware of the realities of the situation, and threw out a bunch of bogus info on the arena. Then, they threw KJ under the bus for correcting them in his sideline interview. Their handling of the broadcast was a joke.

He should have "manned up" and listened to the facts, apologized for having incorrect info (hell, blame the TNT research crew if you want!), and he'd be golden.

so what the hell happened?
Webber called into the Napear show after Napear's producer called him and set it up. The first thing Webb did was congratulate Grant on the Giants winning the Superbowl. The first question Grant asked was to question how Cheryl Miller and everybody else could get it so wrong on the air last night. Webber said he thought he was coming on the air to talk about the reception he got last night, how grateful he was to the fans, how much he loved the Sacramento fans, etc. He also said he'd come out of a meeting and missed a flight to be able to be on the show and didn't appreciate being ambushed. He was talking, Grant was backtracking and Webber wouldn't let him get much of a word in edgewise. Webber said if he said something wrong on the air to let him know and he'd correct it. He then gave his twitter info (@realchriswebber) and told the fans if they wanted to talk about it to tweet him and that he wasn't going to be used by Grant on his show, or words to that effect. He then hung up.

In usual Napear fashion, Grant is self-righteously indignant, saying Webber DID know what the call was going to be about, etc. which makes no sense whatsoever. When I turned it off, he was ranting that TNT is the bigtime and he (Grant) isn't going to let them get away with blindly putting out bad information. In other words, Grant is milking this for all it's worth...

And in other breaking news, water is still wet.

Remember, this isn't the first dance between these two. Grant has a history with Webber that I recall got very contentious at one point.

sounds about right. And Grant's callers pretty much have their lips firmly plastered you know where(I jumped into listening late). Was Grant talking about the TNT thing in an accusatory tone or did he just casually bring it up???

Really? And what possible agenda could Webber have? He didn't approach Jody Bacon; it was the other way around. And, for the record, none of us really know what he was told about why he was coming onto the show. Webber sounded angry and frustrated; Grant's rant after the phone call sounded childish and self-serving.

I can't stand grant. With that said Webber sounded ridiculous. He lost it. Very very unprofessional. I understand that some here really love webber and I guess they don't see anything wrong with what he did. Ok, to each their own.

What? Are you insane?
Nope. And I'm not resorting to jabs or personal insults, either. If you disagree, that's perfectly fine. I've been pretty detailed about what I think happened. How about you give your take, and see if you can do it without calling me names.

I don't know what he said though. Atleast not exactly. I'd have to hear the convo for myself to judge.
