Offer on the table for a Filipino businessman to take over the Sacramento Kings

#2
Just read on C-Dave's Twitter that this is not legit. But I stand by my thinking that if forced to pay back the city, the Maloofs may be stuck here. And if stuck here, selling the team may be an option.

How does an offer come about? Like is it mandated by the NBA or are the Maloofs the ones who can put out the option for someone to make an offer?

Yeah, and he's been covering the NBA for decades. He even covers NBA finals series as a commentator for local channels here (Basketball TV / Solar). However, 250 million dollars seems pretty low.

However, this sounds pretty stupid:

"If the Filipino ownership pushes through, perhaps the franchise can bring in the first and only Filipino-American to play in the NBA - Raymond Townsend who suited up for the Warriors and the Indiana Pacers - to join the front office even in an honorary capacity. Then, the team can hire Fil-Am coach Erik Spoelstra from Miami and enlist the first pure-blooded Filipino ever to play in the NBA - maybe, Jimmy Alapag or James Yap or L. A. Tenorio.

We can dream, can’t we?"
They better not think that when this happens, they can just put filipino players on the team, or hire anyone in the NBA with Filipino blood to be part of the team, coaching staff, front office, etc. Its the SACRAMENTO KINGS, not the Sacramento Kings of the Filipinos. Filipinos (in general) have no sense of meritocracy (Just look at who our president is). If this goes down, the ownership group will just hire people just because they are Filipino. Filipinos also have a false sense of national pride. They latch on to the individual achievements of famous filipinos (Pacman, Charice, etc) and claim it as their own.

D-Leaguers can't even play in the NBA, and sometimes play in the Philippines as imports. What makes Mr. Henson think that PBA players can even play in the NBA?

*end of rant*

Oh yeah. Where are you living? Are you residing here in the Philippines? If you actually live here for an extended period of time, and actually observe the culture and society here, you would at least know where I'm coming from. There IS a reason why this country is poor, overpopulated, and uneducated.

As a Filipino, I generally agree with what Kings Fan Gerard has to say. Unless the new ownership has a right mind, Filipino's tend to want to keep things "Filipino" exactly as how the quoted article states.

As much as I'd love for the Kings to stay, if a Filipino became a new owner and they started inserting other filipino's into the staff and team for the sake of having filipino's on board then it's a bad idea.

Filipino news tends to over dramaticize everything anyway, so take what the article says with a grain of salt.

I'm not Filipino, but I have a lot of Filipino friends and there's a huge population of Filipino's where I live in Los Angeles. So no offense, but what Gerard said was pretty spot on. Don't know how you can claim he doesn't know much about the Filipino culture just because you got offended for no reason. Grow up.

Offended for no reason? Seriously?! Wow, just wow. Frankly, I found his comments extremely offensive, and I have many Filipino friends as well. Some have become family to me. Much love and respect to all of my Filipino brothers and sisters out there!!

P.S. And the BEST FOOD in the world.. :)

EDITED: Some of the best food in the world.. :p

Hi!

Im happy that there are Pinoy kings fans here. I thought that Aenadin and I are the only Pinoy in this board.

Regarding the topic, if the Kings were sold to MVP, will they relocate here and become the Sacramento Tropang Texters? Ewwwww! Hahahaha hope not. I hope it won't push through.

That stuff is used to make bombs. Menudo flies against the policies set forth by the Geneva Convention. But hey, if you want it, you can have it. I'll let my aunts know, next time you're in town.
