As one of the comments on that story suggests and my current prevailing opinion, it's all down to money. Specifically the cost to relocate. I think they already have worked out an agreement with the Honda Center and know pretty much what it will cost to sort out the city loan here. I think the remaining wild card is the franchise relocation fee from the NBA end. It will be dozens of differing opinions on what is a fair amount.

Is it going to be what amounts to chump change? That is what 30 million split 30 ways is for owners. You figure the NBA gets a cut too so it is a 30 way split. What is it going to take to buy off a yes vote? And what role, if any, does the talks about revenue sharing for smaller market team come into play? Would smaller market owners be ok with one of their own kind moving up to the big city? Would they endorse that move and want to line up their own scheme to do the same? Do the big market teams want to dillute their worth by having competition?

So many angles to look at this from if you are a team owner and David Stern. In the end I think the majority blesses the move because they want to preserve their own right to hold the leverage over their own cities. But as a Sacramento Kings fan, I hope they make them wait a year until the new CBA is worked out and Sacramento is given one last chance to prove it can build a new facility. Yeah I don't give up so easily.

I'm willing to take the chance I am being played as if I even know what that means. This is a city of fearful people living in the multiple shadows of San Francisco and Tahoe. I won't even bring up SoCal. People are always afraid something good will get taken away yet at the same time, willing to stand on the principle that we should never get played and not put out a full effort to keep something good. This attitude will keep the city moneyless, cultureless, and boring. I think most people HERE like that and I don't.

There is nothing subtle about the signs that the team might not move. The Maloofs own 51% and are not robots. They will listen to the minority partners or need to replace them. Maybe easy but I doubt it. Moving will cost money. The Maloofs have reniged on loans (or whatever the wording is) in the Palms. I think they will have trouble getting a loan. Neither banks or anybody likes to flush money down the drain.

This is no time to wimp out. Fight for the damn team and if you are played, so what? What have you lost? You have seen a game and hopefully enjoyed yourself. Is that getting played.

Cosigned. If we dont do anything they leave, and if we get played they leave. So why make sure they leave? Just try and if it doesnt work out then oh well, atleast you tried.
