Tyreke Evans Questions

#1
Does Tyreke need to be on a team that is fast, with little inside offense (i.e. Suns with Amare) in order to really succeed in this league?

Is he doomed being set to play next to Cousins/Whiteside/Dalembert, bigs who tend to slow down and clog the offensive sets?

Evans clogs the offense more than Cuz or Dally. Defenders lay off him.

Tyreke? Fast? What are you talking about? One of the most frustrating things about Tyreke is how slow he brings up the ball every time and how much time it takes him to get the offensive set started (although I did notice a tiny improvement in that area for him. Nothing substantial, but still improvement).

He just needs to heal, continue to improve, get experience. He can operate in a fast break or a set up offense. He's just going through a rough patch.

As kingster said... he just needs to get better. He is one dimensional right now. And the defense will give him jumpers untill he proves he can make them. His shot will improve... gonna take him awhile though. AT least 3-4 years with that form he has.

People keep mentioning how it took Chauncey Billups about 6 years in the league to hit his outside jump shot with any consistency. Even Steve Nash was not very deadly from outside and not an NBA starter until his 4th-5th year in the league. Hopefully, Tyreke puts in the very hard work those superstars did to get to where he should be with all his many tremendous gifts as a basketball player.

But the offense still looks better when guys are hitting shots. First half he was creating, and guys were hitting. It was flowing. Even in his condition it shouldn't be that hard to do in the 2nd half.

Tyreke needs to make his outside jumpers or quit taking them. Tonight seemed like an 0 for on his jumpers. Such evenings can be game killers and he's done it a few times now. Of course he needs to keep playing but he needs to take the opportunities that work for him and cut down the rest. We have a number of others that can do better from outside.

And he will, if theres one thing to his credit its that he is an exceptionally hard worker with an iron will to be better. Props to him, hes struggling right now in part to his health but he will bounce back and he will put in the time to get better

And those guys played several years of college each, if not all four, no?

Tyreke's starting to scary me...
I agree with this. Why are the young Kings all seeming to either be in hover patterns or regressing talent wise? Seems like each game this team becomes less and less talented. It should be the other way around. Hopefully Westphal can turn this ship around.

The biggest problem I see with Tyreke now is that we see him as our #1 option, but he's not playing like he's deserving of such an honour. Everytime a certain player has got it going, we put in Tyreke and immediately our offence changes to cater to letting Tyreke score or set someone up. For example, Cousins is beasting. We put in Tyreke, and immediately stop going to him. Unfortunately Cousins picked up his 5th foul but the thing is if Tyreke isn't handling the ball well, he's basically useless. He has an awful outside shot and so can only penetrate and set guys up or get a lay up. When he's not getting lay ups, not making good passes, not cutting, not scoring on the break, then he's basically a liability on the offensive end. He really really needs to step up his shooting now that teams have figured out how to better defend his drives.
