And this same team just drafted uuber-mega-phenom Bryce Harper.

Nationals should have a BRIGHT future!

And that's why I don't watch baseball. No salary cap is just plain dumb and unfair. And I'm a Red Sox fan so I'm not biased since they benefit from no cap too.
As a fellow Sox fan, one of the things that frustrates me to no end is the wrath the Sox incur for just trying to compete in the same division as those jerks. Yes, the Sox have the 2nd or 3rd highest payroll in baseball. It's also a fraction of what the Yankees pay. Unfortunately for them it is a matter of necessity rather than want. They still operate in a budget and don't just go around outbidding everyone else to throw their weight around. They make hard decisions like not to extend Manny which lead to the Bay trade who then walked when the other NY team decided to shower him with more money than he's worth.

The Sox would be one of the biggest beneficiaries of a cap imho because they are a well run organization that has produced a lot of their top talent from within.

Absolutely no problem with the cap, owners willing to win and spend the money too can.
But notice that the teams willing to spend are in the large markets, aka the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox and Dodgers. How is that fair to small market teams like Tampa, San Diego and Milwaukee?

If the NBA had no cap, any chance Sacramento had of winning would be pretty much lost.

Make the Cap an average of what the other top 10 teams pay out, but the Yankees have completely broken baseball. They have a hole at a spot they will give a guy an extra 2 mill per year for 2 years longer than anyone else and write it off when the guy can't finish the contract with zero repercussions. They are so horrible for everyone that isn't an agent or player it is sick.
