So is NBC out of the running to pick it up? Lord knows they'll still be desparate to fix their programming after the Leno experiment.

Sad, but expected. There was no guarantee that even if it was picked up for another season that the entire cast (Sutherland included) were going to come back. It's been said for a while that they wanted to make a movie for 24, which would be the "official" end for Jack and everyone at CTU.

And this season hasn't been much better, either. The whole Dana storyline...terrible. And that twist at the end of last episode? Give me a break. I'm as big of a fanboy as you will find for 24, but that was just way too over the top. There's only so many "OMG THERES A MOLE IN CTU!" you can take.

Anyways, I don't expect Jack to die at the end of the season, they've already played that card before. However, I could something happening to his daughter, due to him being in CTU, and him blaming CTU for it and leaving the country...which ques to the movie? Would be interesting to see what the rough script looks like for the movie.

I thought the season was turning around until the Dana is the mole reveal. gosh, what an original storyline. Would have been better if they revealed that from the start then maybe made her actions with the ex-bf or whoever he was make some sense, instead at this point you wonder why she didn't just have them offed the second they showed up.

They did the "Dana is a mole" reveal a bit too soon, causing me to wonder if she's a counter-mole... I've liked the writing this season and the pacing has been back to how it was early on.

If they're going to make it so Jack can no longer be the CTU action hero but can seque into a movie, they're going to have to come up with something pretty interesting.

Bottom line, though, is I want more than anything else to see Chloe go Jack Bauer on Dana.

The pacing is MUCH better now, but the "Dana is a mole" part was terrible on their part. Honestly, this season would have been 100% better if they didn't include her from the beginning. Her scenes have only slowed down the show.

This season is so bizarre, it started off horrible with the stupid early Dana arc that made no sense considering her reveal and later actions, had one or two promising episodes and then the lame reveal had me thinking here we go again, but last night was great again. I hope the little chat with the Russian guy is just a red herring for who the big bad will be for the final 8 hours and that maybe we'll get the evil cabal from last season as the ones pulling the strings. I could see that setting up the movie nicely since taking them down might work better outside of the real time gimmick.

I am going to miss that awesome pompadour.

HOMER WARNING!

Okay, if there's such a thing as a "24 homer," I'd guess it's me. I've loved this series from the very start, even through the slow times, and I was very pleased with how they ended it. Now I'll have to content myself with watching all the past seasons on DVD until the movie comes out.

Jack Bauer still rocks!!!

I have mixed feelings with this season. It started off horribly and I was seeing flashes of Season 6. Then it picked up and went down again when President Taylor decided to listen to Charles Logan of all people. But the season finale was classic 24 and I think made it up for this season. I will miss 24 but I think it was high time to end it too. I look forward to watching the movie if it pushes through.

I thought it was really confused for the first 2/3rds of the season, got pretty good at the end but perhaps wrapped up into the obvious movie set up due to some questionable decisions during the final two hours that if the characters had made the other direction would have actually wrapped this up cleanly.

I'm also curious if we'll ever see the mysterious cabal from the end of the last season show up in the movie, seemed like they were being set up to be players in a future 24 and then dropped off the face of the earth for the final season.

I think you're right. Kiefer Sutherland still had another year or two on his contract, so I think the cabal definitely would have made another appearance.

Do you watch the episodes more than once? I generally watched them the night they air and then again the Sunday before the new one aired. I've found over the years that what might have seemed scattered or unclear became a bit more understandable after I'd had a second viewing. Of course, that could just be old age, too. ;)

I don't have time to watch a show twice, I only get around to watching the ones I do when my DVR hits 90%. But I do check the message boards at TWOP from time to time. My biggest problem with the early season was all the time spent on Dana. I guess they cleared up her motivations by insinuating that she was trying to make a clean break and genuinely loved Cole, but I see no scenario where she succeeds in pulling off the terrorist plot and keeping her cover, nor do I think the Russians would have said ok, we have no need for you go get married and be happy. So she may as well have just killed the two deadbeats from her past the moment they showed up. And not that it matters but Milton is still rotting away behind a wall panel in CTU somewhere.

I also hate that they killed Renee. I think they could have relaunched a new 24 a few years down the road with her. I'd of watched.

In one of the alternate scenarios I've created for the show, Renee Walker isn't actually dead. She was made to appear that way to get Jack Bauer to go ... well, Jack Bauer ... on all the evil-doers. The mystery would be who would want to unleash the awesome power of Jack Bauer in this way? Would it be a cabal for good getting Jack ready to fight the cabal of evil?

And yes, before you say anything, I've got way too much spare time lately if I'm writing alternatives for a canceled TV series.
