Been almost a decade since we were robbed of our NBA title. And i know its been talked about tons of times before. And that we should just move on. Still, I truly believe that what the NBA did to the Kings in 2002 is one of the greatest injustices in the history of organized sports.

edit: oh man, i posted in the wrong forum.

we should have beat the lakers and we would have crushed the nets. I'd say robbed is about right, despite the shoulda woulda coulda aspect of the argument

It's 100% confirmed and official for anybody who actually watched that game.

Scott Pollard stands stock-still, arms in the air, Shaq takes two steps into him, lowers his shoulder, Pollard doesn't budge, foul on Pollard.

Kobe elbows Bibby in the head with a ref staring right at him, no call.

I'm sorry, there is no way on God's green Earth that game wasn't fixed. No entire officiating crew who'd been refereeing at the professional level for years could have suddenly become that retarded all at once.

Regardless of whether Donaghy was telling the truth, rewatching game 6 of the 2002 WCF will give ANYONE the idea that something was wrong and that the NBA didn't want the Kings to win.
There were 7 games in that series as I recall. There was opportunity for the Kings to win, regardless of any possible favor towards the Lakers. That's why I say it's a little too extreme to say that the Kings were robbed of an NBA title.

^^^

Game 6, which would have been a series clinching win, was handed to the lakers. The series may not have been "fixed" but denying that nothing fishy happened and that we weren't robbed is laughable. It's like the cool thing to do on this board is pretend like we didn't get robbed. Like some sort of twisted NBA version of Stockholm syndrome

There's the "victim symphathizing with his captors" syndrome... and then there is the "victim whining about it for eight years after the fact" syndrome.

Game 6 wouldn't have been potentially clinching for the Kings but for a blown call at the end of game 5 in the Kings favor. But when it came time to knock down a big shot, Bibby did it - so we won, and that's it, and it is the way it is. If we win game 6 do the Lakers have a beef that the refs robbed them of game 5 and they are the "true" champs?

On the other hand, you have the late Peja airball (who was 0-6 from downtown) and many bricked free throws in game 7. Peja knocks down that j, we win. Make ONE MORE free throw, we win. We missed 14 free thows in game 7. shoot 57% instead of 54% from the line, we win. That's it.

Game 6 was reffed bad, to create a game 7. I believed that then and I believe it now never mind what Donaghy says - sure they tilted to create a game 7. But nobody stopped the Kings from winning game 7 except the Kings.

Why did you bother to post this at all? Especially since you admit it's been talked about tons of times before.

There are a myriad of threads about this in the archives. There's nothing new to discuss. For that reason, I'm closing the thread.
