Deal with portland

#1
salaries matchup
kings get
outlaw, bayless, Przybilla #24 pick

portland gets
thomas(really his expiring)
garcia
#4 pick

Kings do it because it get them an extremely versitile player in outlaw, nice backup center in Przybilla, and a pg for the future bayless.
Kings dont do it because there is someone in the draft they are actually high on a player that deserves #4 pick and the contract it comes with.

Portland does it because they are not gonna resign outlaw, they need to resign Roy and Aldridge so the thomas contract is what really makes this deal go.
Portland doesn't because Bayless might be the straw that broke the camels back, and there isnt something at #4 that they want.

Lineup
PG Beno-Bayless
SG Martin #23, #24 #31
SF Outlaw-Nocioni
PF Thompson-Greene
C Hawes-Przybilla

I live up in Portland. No way they are going to give up Przybilla the way Oden played last year. Plus, ownership is telling the staff to win NOW...so getting younger (#4) is not in the cards. and.... Bayless is a combo guard, not what we need…I wasn't that impressed with the way outlaw played down the stretch.

Portland is horribly overrated outside of Roy and Aldridge IMO. I'm really not interested in many of their players and certainly not for our #4 this year. Terrible deal for us and they need Joel P so I doubt they do it.

roy and aldridge are the only sure things on that roster

i truly believe that pritchard, as much as he moves isnt that good of a GM, hes more like hit and miss with his movements.. hes the guy who also drafted martell webster right?

Even Aldridge is a solid skilled guy and not a major star. JT is arguably going to be as good or better than Aldridge.

Pritchard picked Roy and Aldridge. He also passed on Chris Paul and D Williams for Martel Webster and a late round pick. He passed on Durant for Oden which isn't looking great right now either. I sense that he is in love with his group of prospects and it remains to be seen if they develop or can be traded into major impact players.

Plus he's a huge fan fave, at least in my circles. He is not untouchable but I don't see him going anywhere until Oden is established.

Sometimes having the number one pick is a curse. Oden was going #1, period. From the minute the ball bounced Portland's way the city went Oden crazy. If you don't pick him and he becomes the dominant center in the league for the next decade-plus you are a laughingstock and a fool. I still think its too early to write him off.

Aldridge is well on his way to becoming a major star. In 3-4 years he could easily be on of the top 3 PFs in the game. He is only 23 and avg 18 and 7.5. He is clearly 1- 2 notches above JT and probably always will be.

There are times on this board that I think Kings fans get carried away with JTs potential....this is one of those times.

oh Please. 6'11" and in the league 3 years and can't get more than 7.5 rebounds in 37 minutes? Absolutely pathetic for a big man.

Jason Thompson stats:

08-09 - 28.1 mpg / 11.1 ppg / 7.4 rpg / 1.1 apg

LaMarcus Aldrige stats:

06-07 - 22.1 mpg / 9.0 ppg / 5.0 rpg / .04 apg
07-08 - 34.9 mpg / 17.8 ppg / 7.6 rpg / 1.6 apg
08-09 - 37.1 mpg / 18.1 ppg / 7.5 rpg / 1.9 apg

According to this JT in his first year is already a better rebounder and than LaMarcus in his current form. LaMarcus is obviously the better scorer right now but in a few years time JT can easily pass him. If Thompson had 37 mpg to work with he would probably average at least 14ppg 9.5rpg 1.7 apg. If we are looking for the better true PF I wouldn't be hesitent to choose Jt over Aldrige right now.

On a per minute basis for Thompson's first year it's:

0.395 pts/min; .263 rebs/min; 0.039 assists/min

For Aldridge in his first year:

0.407 pts/min; .226 rebs/min; 0.002 assists/min

In Aldridge's 3rd year:

0.488 pts/min; 0.202 rebs/min; 0.051 assists/min

Aldridge is younger; only one year in college. That has to be factored in. Thompson has a bigger body than Aldridge and should be able to better on his inside game than Aldridge after a couple of years, but that really depends on his learning curve. Overall, it's a fairly close call, with Aldridge having a little bit of the upper hand.

i would do the deal i like Bayless alot he plays with a chip on his shoulder, can get to the rim, which will lead to drive and kicks for open shots for teammates. Outlaw super athletic player who can rise and shoot over almost anyone. Przybilla is good backup also plays hard and more importntly plays D. Also frees up time for Donte. I would rather do this deal than pick any player @ #4.

Aldridge vs Thompson, Aldrige better post up game, thompson more athletic both are gonna be good players in the leauge for years to come.
