Adrian Williams-Strong was the player interview tonight- players will each get a week off during the break and she'll be heading home to Phoenix for her time off. The team will be reassembling on the 8th. She liked how they finished the first half and thinks they'll pick up where they left off because they'll be able to remember the feeling and they're all working on getting better individually and then will be as a team once their collective practices start.

Coach T, um..was the coach interview - Coaching staff is working out players individually - he did workouts with AWS and Aqua today, he's in charge while coach Boucek is away. He thinks 18-19 wins gets you into the playoffs and thinks Seattle's post break schedule is the most favorable of all the playoff contending teams in the West so they will take the #1 spot away from San Antonio. He thinks the Ms have a good chance to steal the LA game out the gate because of the number of LA Olympians and the race for spot #4 unless another team drops out is between Sac and Hou. He's heard rumors that Tangela Smith is having/will have season ending surgery...as an aside. There was much talk about MinPins and YorkiePoos...for topic diversity sake.

Fantasy segment was about how folks did in the first half and I guess the call out was to let me know that he is on my tail now. (please don't let me flame out...;))

Supa needs to call the show, they continue to be intrigued by his team name and I think want him to win so they can say it more...he got a back door shout out. MoneyK did as well since Krista knows his true identity.

mdme, they want to talk to you as well as the board leader. But don't call until Koz comes back so you can rub your lead in his face...:cough: I mean, if you are so inclined. NBH, come on, call and talk fantasy.

Koz leaves next week for his Olympic broadcasting assignment, so fantasy players need to all call the show the week he returns. Everybody get ready - 8pm folks...fantasy hour.

Thanks for the re-cap...I'll get in on the show sometime in the near future.
First I gotta get back in the top 5 so I can brag a little;)
So Koz is China bound...sweet.

George...I hope you got some good shots of team USA...especially K-LAW!

A gold medal viewing party sounds like fun, first we gotta get Team USA there.

Gotta say, I was driving home from some business in the Bay Area (cough Maples cough) and was pleasantly surprised to hear MBF rocking the airwaves.
That is pretty awesome... I was going to take a trip up there with my little sister to try and hang around and see if we could get autographs, but we never got around to it. She is a huge CP3 fan!

Thanks for the business you conducted in the bay area George ;)

Because NBC is sending a smaller portion of the broadcast teams and crews to China compared to the number of than they have in past Olympic locations (as a request of the Chinese government), he'll be commentating on his badminton events from NBC studios in New York which will be the case for a majority of the events not named basketball, track/field, gymnastics and swimming.

One other additional piece to add to some of the comments that coach T and AWS made, coach Boucek had mentioned during her pre-game interview on the radio Sunday that she had given each of the players a list of skills she expects them to work on over the break - which dovetails into Adrian calling in for her segment from the practice facility while she was finishing up her session on the elliptical machine to help her both increase and maintain her cardio conditioning.

And coach T talking A LOT about Boucek's devotion to player development, which I think again speaks to why they feel they'll benefit from the break. Laura Harper talked about that in a Bee article earlier in the week - she's looking forward to getting more skill work in with the staff.

Staff will also be working DeMya out and see how close she can be to game ready post break. From the way coach T was talking, I don't know that there is any expectation that she will be but they're going to use the break to see how far she'll be able to get.

What a great idea...giving the players goals to reach & always coaching.
More & more I am impressed with the teaching of Coach Boucek & staff.
I really want to see her & the Monarchs suceed & reach greater heights.

Anyone know when the players will be at the state fair?

My sister will be in town...I'm sure she won't mind Monarchs, cinnamon rolls or berries. I'll see if I'm able to talk her into Friday. Saturday afternoon/evening is sketchy....she's already aware however, that she's getting up for the gold medal game viewing gig. :)

It is "sweet" indeed. And since the Berry Factory is a local sponsor of the Monarchs games, it makes sense.
