MVP Trip

#1
On a totally unrelated topic....

I was wondering if an MVP trip had been announced. Way back in January my sales rep stated that the details were being finalized.

I realize that MS&E is not in the travel agency business. But With the schedule coming out as early as it did, one would have thought they would have had a city announced by now. Some of us have to plan for these things. And with the likelihood of not having an All-Star game, the road trip was a strong possibility for me.

I've got it from a reliable source that the they are strongly considering the Sunday, July 27th Game at Seattle. It is the only game on the schedule that makes sense. Every other West Coast Road Game (other than Phoenix on September 5th) is during the week.

That is consistant with what I have been hearing. I am just needing an offical announcement.

I do shift work, I can't just take off work. Someone has to be there to replace me, and I have to ask early. And save up for that matter.

Still I am thinking it is a little slow on the draw. I know they usually wait but that is because the schedule is out late. It was out early this year.

Okay off My ***** Box,

We also have a game on the 26th at home...I guess we'll have to jump on a plane in the middle of the night & or rise early to catch a quick flight:cool:
Then when will they have the MVP event?
Sounds a bit scattered. I see your point Luv13, would be nice to know for sure.

I would think the event would be that night after the Indiana game.

I think they had a plan (to go for the umpteenth time to LA) and it was soundly vetoed at the event they had in February. They apparently took the suggestions to heart if they are trying to make a Seattle game work.

On a personal note, we're contemplating a July 4 trip to San Antonio and Houston, which coincides with the schedule nicely. The Monarchs are in SA on July 3 and Houston on July 5.

However, a return trip to Seattle would be nice, as I loooooove that city!

GO MONARCHS!!!!

Some good news

I recieved a phone call saying that the trip is almost finalized. I can't say where cause it hasn't been finalized. It is something we haven't done before, hopefully they will getting the details vetted and offer something cost effective.

Well see what happens But due to the late announcement I don't think I can go. Sounds good tho.

I do like the July 4th idea HoopMatron...Texas two-step....

Gotta a letter in the mail today announcing the MVP road trip to, you guessed it...San Antonio & Houston over the 4th of July week-end.
Sounds like a very fun trip...not sure if I'll be able to swing it, gotta check with work. More details to come.

Thanks for mentioning it, NBH!

San Antone and Houston, eh? I'm very iffy on that. Not really big on the weather during the summertime out there.

Personally, I would've preferred Seattle. Mainly because of the cooler weather, great fans, and the fact that my parents live there (specifically on Bainbridge Island). Also, it would seem a bit odd and surreal (to me, at least) cheering on my Monarchs as a fan of the visiting team while seeing Yo Griffith wearing a Storm jersey!

Gotta agree with you there StevenHW...Seattle would have been much better for me as well...you think we can still go to Seattle & crash at your parents crib;)

That depends on how many of us are going. They live in a small condo apartment. :D

It's pretty cool, though. The only way you can commute between Bainbridge Island and Seattle itself, is via the ferry.

Word is finally out

Well I am glad it is finally out...

I thought it was a pretty creative Idea. My problem is that I didn't know early enough and it is kinda during the 4th of July holiday. Most hotels are booked, most flights are expensive and it is difficult to get a rental car. So unless MS&E has a package deal that includes Hotel flight and transportation, putting a two City trip vacation together is kinda tough.

But they get an A for effort so far. It is something different
Like I said I didn't find out in enough time for me to participate. But then again I should be getting my Tax return just about that time.

So Who knows?

Anyone know a Travel Agent so we can get some prices?

I do know a very good travel agent friend, her name is Jane....
PINKPODDLEADVENTURE.COM I put in a e-mail to her to inquire on some prices, I'll get back to you when I hear from her. I forget her phone #?

My issues are not cost but time off following the 4th I work:cool:

based on what I have see so far

Based on what I have seen so far, It is a no go.
Way too much money... not enough time, I can't justify it.
However... I have a call in to my friend who does charter flights. IF the group is big enough, and some other things can be worked maybe we can work out the flight and transportation details, leaving only hotel accomodations.

Again since NBH got the letter, did MS&E make any mention of group rates? Group rate discounts go alot further when College or Pro sports affiliations call to inquire. I can believe that they don't know this.

They apparently did have some sort of group rate folks could tap into last year if you opted to stay at the hotel where the team was staying as I believe they also did the previous year's trip to LA. Folks however could likely get a better rate elsewhere since the W teams tend to stay at 4-5 star hotels.

From what I've seen of the airfares, they are actually pretty reasonable despite the holiday, compared to what I spent the last couple of trips I've made to Houston.

It's an interesting logistical puzzle working to get to and from the San Antonio airport and a hotel and the arena. And from the hotel to the arena to the airport in Houston without needing to rent a car. You really almost don't want to have a car to deal with in San Antonio imo. And depending on where they'll be having the reception in Houston relative to where Reliant arena is, a car may not be necessary either.

That was the beauty of their 4th of July trip to Seattle a few years ago, we were cab ride away from hotel and where they held the reception and the hotel was walkable to Key Arena.

I'll buzz our resident houston area resident and ask him to pop into this thread to give folks an idea of how to manuever around the various parts of Houston and what the hotel options are near Reliant which is a bit a way away from downtown and either of the two airports.
