I disagree, Ron from TJ is an upgrade, ESPECIALLY when you consider the spinal stenosis he's dealing with. Also, you're not looking at the BIG picture for Tor. Calderon is an FA, he'll want something in the 7-10 million dollar range IMO. Are you gonna pay 15 million for your PG tandem if you're BC? You can keep Calderon more easily in this deal because you shift TJ's salary to your area of need SF and upgrade it significantly to Artest. That's smart management there.

Toronto is building a European/Phoenix style running/versatile team that Artest doesn't fit into at all. He would be an upgrade for them at SF from a talent perspective, but not so much of an upgrade that I could see them taking on KT. It's just not a good fit.
But aside from that, playoff teams don't shed talent midseason. They look to upgrade with their expirings and lesser players and/or picks. I still can't really see Toronto trading Artest for Ford straight up, let alone when you talk about giving them KT. Ford is worth a lot more to them than that, and you don't trade players when they're undervalued, like Ford is coming off his injury.
PS: If Toronto IS going to upgrade at SF, Mike Miller would be ten times a better fit than Artest. They could probably get him on the cheap right now too, without giving up Ford or Calderon.

Agree with you in re: to what Toronto was trying to create. I had posted a possibility of Memphis deleting some Salary by sending Mike Miller to us, we send Artest to Denver, and Memphis gets a bunch of expiring contracts. We immediately trade Mike Miller to Toronto for a pick, and a player that maybe has 1 year left after this one, or a couple expirings. Miller fits with the run style team, and hits a ton of open jumpers. Calderon and Mike Miller would be a good tandem (of course along with Bosh, and Andrei)
^Problem is that Toronto doesn't have an expiring to give us, and I can't see them taking on KT until they've resolved Calderon's contract situation. Memphis might be willing to take Garbajosa/Dixon just to clear salary if Toronto wants Miller, but I figure they'll probably sit tight and try and improve in the offseason once they know what's happening with Calderon.
Given that Artest is also a virtual expiring, this is essentially trading him for one of the last picks in the draft. The Denver trade, if it happens, seems
much more promising.
