Never posted here before though I read it often. I just had to share this tid bit:

My sister-in-law lives in Roseville and was walking her dog on some trails when along comes this massive jogger. As the lengthy man came closer, she realized that it's our favorite hunter, Brad Miller. According to her, he looked really good although he did have Budweiser in his Camelbak. Okay, not really, but she was impressed with his fitness level. Hopefully this is a good sign.

OK. This is this one of those joke threads?

Brad Miller jogging?

The punch line will be that Brad Miller was jogging with Dom Delouise and Vlade Divac, right?

It's not a joke. Word around the water cooler is that Brad is really working on coming to training camp in good shape. I know he's here and not back on the farm in Indiana so I'm hopeful the rumors floating around about people seeing him actually working on conditioning are true.

:)

EDIT: Welcome to the board, ainokea! Glad to have you take the plunge and make that first post. Gets a lot easier after that. Be sure and sign in at the "welcome" thread in the Lounge.

Right...he was jogging with Dom Delouise, Butterbean, and Vlade Divac, all while smoking his Marlboro's that he got from the 7-11 after picking up his 18 pack of Budweiser.

edit: well, if we get the 'old' Brad back, THAT will change alot of things with this whole 'rebuilding' thing we're trying to do here. A healthy Brad can go a long way to solving alot of problems.

I'll bet Butter Bean can run when he wants to. Maybe Brad also. Vlade, I dunno. Dom Delouise, right.

Yeah if Brad actually played like the old Brad instead of just "old Brad" we could actually have a shot at being a good team.

No joke. She was serious as the heart attack BM probably had after his run. Seriously though, I've been a rabid fan since the beginning and it brought me great joy to have first hand evidence that B-Rad is actually getting in shape. I think we go as he goes. And as Ron Artest goes...and Mike Bibby...and....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Brad have plantar fasciitis still last summer? So it would make sense that he wouldn't be very fit for the season. I hope he really is taking the advantage of being healthy, and getting back into shape, because he was awful last season.

Yes, Brad had major problems with plantar fasciitis. There were other mitigating factors but bottom line is he wasn't in good shape for almost the entire season. I think the mere fact he's here and from several different accounts making some kind of effort before training camp is encouraging, if nothing else.

With a month or so of not putting strain on the affected foot/feet, plantar fasciitis can improve tremendously. In fact, it's been said that only rest can improve plantar fasciitis.

So, seeing as how Brad's season was done in April, it's completely feasible that he took 4-6 weeks off, maybe working on his core strength, maybe doing some weight work, maybe shooting set shots in the gym. And then, for the past 2-3 months, he's been getting himself in playing shape, working on his conditioning, etc. He could be in very good shape by now.

Of course, if we were talking about Mike Bibby or Ron Artest, that would all be expected. But Brad Miller has never been a gym rat, so it's kind of hard to believe. On the other hand, he did go from undrafted rookie to All-Star in a few years, so it's conceivable.

Miller does have motivation. A seven figure motivation to be more accurate. If he wants to prove to a team that he's worth signing after this contract then Miller needs to pick up his game. Two kids means he's got two kids to buy their way into Purdue.

Brad Miller is scheduled to make $34,125,000 through 2009/10. I don't think he's even thinking about what might happen after this contract expires.

I think many of us have to experience how much plantar fascitis hurts before calling Brad Miller a slow poke.

I sure have changed my mind and I have only been having bone spurs in my heel, or something in that sort. Bone spurs in the heel alone is an aggravating injury. Previously in the gym I would be known to be the guy to fly out of nowhere and swat the shot. Sort of like an Andrei Kirilenko. Floating and always quick to react.
Now, they all think I'm a waste of height. The bone spurs in your heel seriously hinder your overall speed, mobility, etc. When you start running, it feels like a knife is being pushed up your heel.

I cant even begin to imagine how painful plantar fascitis is.

I've had plantar fascia - the pain is really bad in the morning when you first get out of bed, but as the tissue gets stretched out during the day it feels better and is more like a dull ache in the afternoon. The problem is it doesn't heal unless you really give it a rest.
