Trade Artest and Bibby together? A + B = AB

#1
I just read through the post with poll regarding whom you would rather trade, Bibby or Artest. It seemed the overwhelming majority was hoping to trade both. Do you think that it would be possible to trade them both in one large deal together? My first plausible thought (not involving draft picks because of Bibby's contract questions) involved the Lakers because Kobe has been everywhere in the news lately demanding that the team make strides to win now, right now (forget youth and get some verterans who can help him).

Having said that, here is my trade proposal after the longwinded introduction

Sac Outgoing:

Mike Bibby
Ron Artest

Lakers Outgoing:

Lamar Odom
Vadimir Radmanovic
Andrew Bynum

The salaries match and the only hang up contractually is Bibby's opt out option. A (Artest) + B (Bibby) = AB (Andrew Bynum:p )

New Kings Roster (Versitile):

PG:Draft?/Price?/Douby/Garcia/Salmons
SG:Martin/Douby/Garcia/Salmons
SF:Odom/Salmons/Garcia/Radmanovic/Williamson?
PF:Radmanovic/Odom/Miller/Thomas/Abdur-Rahim/Williams?/Williamson?
C:Bynum/Miller/Williams?/Abdur-Rahim

1 Draft Pick (#10)

New Lakers Roster (Starter Heavy):

PG: Bibby/Farmar/Vujacic/Parker?
SG: Bryant/Vujacic/Bibby
SF: Artest/Evans
PF: Turiaf/Walton?/Mihm?/Cook
C: Brown/Turiaf/Cook

3 Draft Picks (#19/#40/#48)

My favorite starting line up post trade:

Franisco Garcia
Kevin Martin
Lamar Odom
Brad Miller
Andrew Bynum

This would let the offense run through Odom and Miller, setting up KMart and Bynum. Garcia would bang the glass as a great rebounding guard and would pressure the other team's backcourt defensively. It would also be nice if we could steal a great PG in the draft or through free agency. I would be happy with Conely at #10 or Billups/Boykins/Price (if affordable) through FA. Yi Jianlian would also be a great pick with this lineup as a 6th man.

Chauncey Billups
Kevin Martin
Lamar Odom
Brad Miller
Andrew Bynum

Earl Boykins
Francisco Garcia
Yi Jianlian
Shareef Abdur-Rahim
Justin Williams

Ronnie Price
Quincy Douby
John Salmons
Vladimir Radmanovic
Kenny Thomas

I am NOT in favor of inter-divisional trades. And I'm especially not in favor of trades with the Lakers.

Having said that, I think I'd go for that deal. And if Bibby doesn't exercise his option by June 30, he's ours for next year and we can trade him after the July moratorium is lifted.

You have to admit the Lakers might be intrigued by the chance to add both Bibby and Artest to their lineup. And it might go a long way towards pacifying their recalcitrant superstar.

I thought that was a foregone conclusion...;)

Is this approach rebuilding too?

This type of trade is the most exciting to me because it removes the two biggest egos on the Kings right now (along with its biggest contract). I really don't like Bibby's lack of defense, and I think we are all in agreement that Ron is crazy:p . I like this trade because it starts our locker room chemistry off fresh and gives us pieces to build with and win with sooner than only scalping draft picks. It is like a rebuilding move, but faster and without the winning drought that often takes 5-7 years to overcome.

We would be starving for a PG, but that is what Geoffe is for. There are at least 4 servicable PGs that I can think of in free agency (Mo Williams/Chauncey Billups/Earl Boykins/Ronnie Price) for him to target with our expiring room, and the draft also has Coneley, Law, and Crittenton. We could also look to trade for one of these or others (Speedy Claxton/Delonte West/Jason Williams/Jameer Nelson/Sam Cassell) with a Radmanovic or Abdur-Rahim.

No. I would like Brad to start at PF though. I can't edit it now though because I'm quoted.

I think that Odom and Brad at forwards could feed Kevin and Bynum, and then Francisco could be free to roam everywhere and make some mayhem :).

I completely agree with the first part of this, however, I must say that this is one of the only suggested trades in this forum that I have liked. I just don't think that the lakers will give up Bynum, but hey, you never know.....

Yah I like the trade seems to make sense for both teams. Normally blockbusters like this don't happen if both teams are in the same conference... but in the same division... and rivals? Probly something stupid there that would keep it from happening :(. Its a shame because a Bibby/Artest/Kobe lineup is a pretty impressive 1/2/3 for them

I seriously doubt that the Lakers are going to give up both Bynum and Odom, and not try to get an All-Star quality PF in return. Maybe Odom or Bynum, but not both. If that trade were to go down, the Lakers look abysmal at the 4 and 5, which is already a glaring weakness.

how could we even be called a rival anymore both teams are trying so hard to rebuild and both teams equally suck just as bad as the other, but i think the lakers would make the deal, even dough i highly doubt bynum will be a great center, but hey he has good value so if we can get him and ship him off for a stud PF lets do it, where do i sign?

You would have to trade them to different teams; the whole league knows they don't get along.
Actually Ron was just quoted by the Bee as saying he loves playing with Bibby and was hoping neither would have to leave. They even work out together during the summer in the morning at Golds Gym and hang out with each other's kids. That doesn't seem to me that they don't get along. On the court they could both complement Kobe in diferent ways, taking ball handeling pressure off of him, as well as the scoring load. I think their games do complement each other, but they are holding Kmart back. Kobe would be a perfect fit at 2 to play with both of them.
