............damn.............:(

for all the years ive been watching basketball my favorite team has never missed the playoffs... this year may more than likely be the first time ever... as a kid i was always a jordan fan which obviously accounted for being a bulls fan so as a fan of the bulls they never missed the playoffs and when jordan retired i became a kings fan and they never missed the playoffs since... this is sad... i pray there are better things to come in the near future... go kings.

I wonder which championship contending team you will choose next...

They were gone when we traded Webber, Peja, and Bobby and fired Adelman. This is HOPEFULLY just a transition back to relevance in the NBA again...

This is an attempt at a rebuild. You will have some hints about whether it's being done right in the next month, by the end of November you will have a much clearer idea, and in 13 months you'll know almost all that there is to know.

I understand that rooting for a tanking team does not appeal to all tastes, and is probably harder when you're surrounded by Lakers fans. But give 'em at least a month. If they let JW go to some other team, and don't make any trades by the deadline, then it might be time to re-evaluate.

Its bad, but its been worse, i went and looked and the NBA standings and it made me feel a bit better, we doing quite a bit better than some other teams, which is funny because i thought we were lower on the charts than we actually are.

Hopefully sooner than later things will change, but of course you must take a long time to think about the best things to do for a change, because quick decisions might lead to the same thing we are dealing with now, or maybe even worse, all those trades that really hurt us were quick thinking decisions, and we ended up paying for it, im sure Kings management know whats wrong and are gonna change it with time, but they gotta wait for the right time.

I have a feeling that we are in for some hard times as fans. Just remember, teams always cycle. We are pretty close to the bottom right now. We will probably go lower before things turn around. Just hold on. Eventually we will either have enough room for a big free agent signing or we will get a great draft pick in the lottery. Either way, we will get better. Just hold on.

Very true, people seem to forget that and think that rebuilding is a bad thing. This is just a down time of the cycle, we have to go down before we go up again. How long this rebuilding last is totally up to the GM, it could be long like the clippers (which i doubt) or it could be short like the magic (which i also doubt). I image if we do rebuild now and do it right it might take 3 to 6 seasons, and we will be able to contend again. By that time i would image teams in western conf to be much weaker and be ours for the taking but I think the east will be the much surpioer conf.

Oh relax, all teams go through dry spells like this. Take the Bulls for example, those post-Jordan teams were a joke and they've only recently become respectable. Hell my team, the Rockets, haven't made the 2nd round of the playoffs in TEN years.

The Kings are in this awkward transition period and it seems like management has no clue what they want. Hell, remember the pre-Webber/Peja/Vlade Kings. Those teams weren't exactly lighting it up either. You just caught a good time to watch the Kings and are finally seeing it end. Even the Clippers with their non-sensical ownership figured out how to become competitive.

you're right, but we can be down while still progressing towards the future in terms of high picks and cap space or we can be down while not progressing with fool's hope and patchwork moves (which they are as of this date doing).

When in those 10 years some of thoes teams were not rebuilding teams for the rox. The only rebuilding i remeber from the rockets was the time period with Mobley and franics, that was after the pippen/charles/Dream team and in the early days of Yao.

And that's the problem. Those were 10 wasted years because we did what the Kings are doing now. We tried to win with guys that couldn't do it. We tried to build a competitor when we didn't have a chance. Olajuwon was falling apart. Barkley could barely walk at the end and was constantly injured and Pippen, lets not talk about that flake. (for reference, he's probably the most hated Rocket of all time and is referred to as Snottie Quitten by many Rockets fans)

Stupid signings like Mo Taylor, Moochie Norris, trading 3 first rounders for Eddie Griffin, etc.. were marks of horrible judgement and poor drafting skills by this team. Management was always convinced that we were close to being good and we just needed a little here and there and we would be fine. Well what we needed the whole time was to dismantle that mess. We thankfully got really lucky. We somehow got the #1 pick and got Yao and then we stole McGrady from the Magic while dumping a bad max contract in Steve Francis.

The Kings need to wake up and acknowledge that this team, as constructed, isn't going anywhere and start from scratch. That's how the Webber/Peja/J-Dub/Vlade team came about. Management started from scratch and slowly built a contender. The Kings need that one franchise player that they can count on and don't have that.

So I say, Greg Oden or Kevin Durant in 08!

This whole post pretty much sums up how I feel about the Kings. We need a guy in the draft, we need cap room or something to sign or trade for a star, we need to get some more good young guys around Kevin, and maybe if we pull it off right we can be good in a year or few.

dude im not talking s*** about the kings just stating that i understand we most likely will be out of the playoffs... oh and tjobrien you need to get your facts straight when i became a bulls fan it was cause of jordan contenders or not but when i became a kings fan it was during the lockout year and i had no clue theyd even be in the playoffs... jason williams alone is what made me a kings fan...

and like most fans would say and im pretty sure theyd all agree with me when i say, "IM HERE TO STAY!"

Yeah, we got that part. Personally I want to congratulate you on finally seeing the handwriting on the wall, but was it necessary to start a new thread over something that is pretty much being discussed all over the board?

You're the one who made the comment about being a Bulls fan because of Jordan and then becoming a Kings fan during the first year they made it to the playoffs. It's pretty easy for people to surmise that you're a "contender fan"...

Sorry, but there are bigger things to worry about right now than whether or not you believe the Kings will make the playoffs.

I totally agree and great example. They didn't rebuild, just like the kings they put a bandage on something that needed to be rebuilt. And i heard about Pippen and the hate for him, even charles hates him and what he did.

I agree here too and to me this is were the rebuilding really begin. And thoes were some pretty stuiped moves made by your GM, the worst move to me was the Griffin trade which you guys traded jefferson. But i can not blame you guys because everybody was high on Griffin.

And I completely agree here too.

Its funny, i never liked basketball untill recently, my buddies used to watch Kings games back in 98-99, and i remember gettin pissed cuzz i didnt wanna watch it, so i would go home, i remember seein JW and sayin "who is this little white dude??", i couldnt stand him, now a few years later i look back at those games and wish i would have stayed to watch, he was exciting to watch and Kings were a great team back then, but as my luck goes, i just became a Kings fan last year, but i guess its for the better, my expectations arent too high.

Whats really interesting, is those same people that were die hard Kings fans in middle school, cant stand em now, while i sit here and cringe everytime they take a shot, my how times change.

i never knew becoming a fan of a team that was an 8th seed was considered the same as becoming a fan of a contender. and i dont even know where the negativity in this thread came from
Im not sure if your responding to my post or not, but to let you know i wasnt knockin ya, the fact that Williams was mentioned just reminded me of old times and i guess instead of just thinking it, i shared a memory outloud, its just crazy how times change, my post had nothing to do with you or anybody else discussing the topic.

yeah, you're right. I know in my case I'm just angry at everything... and if I took it out on you, I'm sorry.

I love this team. I have been a loyal Kings fan since 1985 and I've never gone through anything like this.

And it's just gonna get worse.

You and he posted at exactly the same time, so he wasn't referring to you.

He was, most likely, referring to me because I pretty much bit his head off...

Williams is old-time? Wow. I am sooooooo old.

;)
